HSBC, Lloyds Bank, Nationwide, Virgin and Barclays banking apps have been DISABLED as thousands of customers experience outages

Thousands of bank customers have lost access to their money as five major banks face disruptions.
HSBC, Virgin Money, Lloyds Bank, Barclays and Nationwide all appear to be affected by issues affecting their apps today.
According to Down Detector, more than 6,000 customers across the country were affected by problems from around 9am (BST) on Friday.
Jake Moore, technical expert and security consultant at ESET, said there could be a problem with the computer servers that all five banks use
But he added that “a cyber attack cannot be completely ruled out.”
It’s one of Britain’s most popular banks, but it appears the Nationwide app went offline on Friday, along with the services of four other banks
According to Down Detector, more than 6,000 customers across the country were affected by issues from around 9am BST on Friday
“It’s similar to the snowflake attack on Ticketmaster and Santander this month,” Moore told MailOnline.
“This is not the first time banks have experienced disruptions, and I’m sure it won’t be the last.”
Down Detector receives network status updates from various sources, including social media and reports submitted to the website.
It shows outage peaks above the usual baseline for all five banks.
According to data from Down Detector, most complaints appear to be coming from HSBC customers, suggesting that HSBC has been hit the hardest.
Of those who reported issues to HSCB, 69 percent said they experienced problems with mobile banking, according to Down Detector.
Meanwhile, 18 percent said they were unable to log in via a mobile device and 13 percent were unable to log in online.
Customers complained on X (Twitter), asking: ‘Is anyone else having problems with the HSBC mobile banking app today?’
Some pointed out that it was payday for them and they needed money to pay bills.
HSBC wrote: ‘We are very sorry that some customers are having difficulty accessing their personal online and mobile banking.

HSBC apologized for the outage and added that IT teams were “working hard” to get services back to normal levels.
Nationwide has responded to a series of customers on X who complained that they had not received their wages in their accounts
“Our IT teams are working hard to get these services back to normal. You can still authorize online ticket purchases via SMS.”
Virgin Money and Nationwide also apologised on Friday to customers who experienced issues with digital banking services.

“This has happened several times before,” one user complained, while another said it was “twice now in the last few months” that they had experienced delays.
Nationwide said it was “aware that some customers may experience delays in receiving their salaries or pensions today”.
Virgin also posted: ‘We are aware that there are occasional issues accessing online banking and our app.’
Lloyds also apologised to affected users on X, while Barclays told customers staff are “doing everything we can” to get its Faster Payment system up and running again.
