Cynthia Nixon said things were “very, very difficult” for Sarah Jessica Parker after the unexpected death of her stepfather Paul Giffin Forste last month at the age of 76.
“I think it’s very, very tough, you know?” the 56-year-old star – who plays Miranda Hobbes on HBO’s Sex and the City and it’s reboot And Just Like That… – told Page six at PaleyFest NY Monday at Paley Museum.
Manhattan-born Parker, 57, added: “It is hard not only for her own loss, but also for her mother” Barbra Forste, who was married to her stepfather for 54 years.

Parker withdrew from the New York City Ballet’s 10th Annual Fall Fashion Gala on Sept. 28 due to a “suddenly devastating family situation.”
Her family later announced Paul’s death, as they said in a statement: “Our family is saddened to announce that Paul Giffin Forste passed away yesterday at the age of 76 following an unexpected and rapid illness.
“In his final moments, he was surrounded by the love and gratitude of his adored 54-year-old wife Barbara, and children, including Sarah Jessica Parker.”
The statement continued: “Paul will be remembered with the spirit of loving-kindness that was his faith, his special joy in his 13 grandchildren and his unwavering faith to make the world a more charitable, tolerant and beautiful place for all.”

Parker took to Instagram with a retro photo of her stepfather, writing, “Paul Giffin Forste…1946-2022…Godspeed…RIP.”
