Restaurant Margaret in Sydney serves the third best steak in the world, according to the jury World’s best steaks list for 2024.
Named after chef Neil Perry’s late mother, Margaret presides over a beautiful street corner with sleek glass windows in Sydney’s chic Double Bay enclave.
The warm and opulent interiors are an inviting precursor to impeccably modern, produce-based fine dining in Australia, where steak prices range from $59 to $250.
Margaret’s 1kg CopperTree 36 month grass-fed and wood-fired hereford ribeye, served with a simple lemon slice and grilled to your liking, has been praised by hundreds.
“We had this a few weeks ago and I have to say it was the best steak I’ve ever had,” said one cheerful diner.

It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, open on Wednesdays from 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM, Thursday – Saturday from 12:00 PM – 11:00 PM and on Sundays from 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM.
Margaret has also been named Good Food Guide’s Restaurant of the Year 2024.
