The Bear Season 3, Vampire Finale Interview, and More New TV This Week

The days are officially getting shorter, but there’s no less TV to watch – just look at this week’s new releases. We use the entire spectrum of Dropout’s Make some noise season 3 to the dynamics of Netflix Supercell, all the way to the finals of Dark matter season 1 and interview with the vampire season 2. Personally, this week I’m most invested in the return of Babylon Berlin, which switched from Netflix to a new network (more on that below). Thank God you watched House of the Dragon‘s latest episode live last night, huh?

Here are all this week’s new TV premieres and finales.

New shows on Netflix

Supercell

Genre: Superheroes (grounded)
Date of publication: June 27, with all episodes
Showrunner/creator: Rapman
Form: Tosin Cole, Adelayo Adedayo, Yasmin Monet Prince and more

There’s not much in this world that can beat “superhero fatigue” except Rapman’s Supercell hopes to do this by embracing normal people who are given superpowers, “not people who are martyrs, not people who are going to save the world, but just people who are trying to save themselves and their families,” as he told SFX magazine.

And indeed its premise is more complicated than it seems: five people in South London who are given power out of nowhere – and have nothing to seem to connect them except that they are black – with a nefarious organization in the background.

A lot of ground has been covered this season: Louis (Sam Reid) and Claudia (Bailey Bass) find their way to Paris; Armand (Assad Zaman) reveals his and Louis’ current love and their meeting; Daniel (Eric Bogosian) is getting tired of vampire antics. (Okay, that last part is part of it.) Now that the process is out of the way, it’s time to see where that leaves our epic vampire love triangle in this crazy world of theirs.
