  • He joins an illustrious list of Americans who have won the prestigious tournament
  • Sinner became the second man to win in Halle as number one in the men’s world

Tommy Paul is the new United States No. 1 after winning his first grass-court title at the Queen’s Club on Sunday, entering Wimbledon leading the American attack.

The 27-year-old defeated Italian Lorenzo Musetti 6-1, 7-6 in 88 minutes in an impressive performance to win his third tour-level title and said: ‘This is the perfect way to get to Wimbledon. Thank you to all of you for coming and watching.”

Paul became the first American player to win on the prestigious London grass since Sam Querrey in 2010, joining the likes of Pete Sampras, Jimmy Connors and Andy Roddick to triumph here.

He added: ‘It’s incredible to hear about the names (of previous winners) in the dressing room. My goal was to put my name next to it. Thank you to my entire team.”

In two of the last three years, the cinch champion has reached the Wimbledon final, while Matteo Berrettini and Carlos Alcaraz did so in 2021 and 2023 respectively, with the latter winning the grand slam.
