Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ‘running out of time’ to rejoin Royal Family because William will be ‘reluctant’ to give his brother a role when he becomes King, Richard Eden tells PALACE CONFIDENTIAL

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “irrelevant” to the remaining royals and have “no time left” to rejoin the family, Richard Eden has told Palace Confidential.

Richard Eden, the Daily Mail’s diary editor, claimed on the Mail+ weekly talk show that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now ‘not wanted’ by the royal family.

Especially for Charles’ youngest son, 39, “the time is running out to come back while his father is still king.”

Before Harry and Meghan moved to the US in 2020, Richard said Harry had always been “central” to the royal plans.

“We saw that at Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, where it was just Harry and his brother, Camilla and Charles and of course the Queen,” he explained.

‘Charles thought that if Harry had a family, they would carry out assignments and share those tasks with William, so I think time is running out.

“If Harry wants to come back at any time, he must do so while his father is still king.”

The Diary Editor added that the Prince of Wales would be much more reluctant to let Harry back into the family, should he try, than their father.

“I really think that if Prince William is king, I can’t imagine him letting Harry come back and play a role again,” he stressed.

‘They are no longer relevant, they are simply not wanted as part of the monarchy.

“Maybe there could be a radical change, but it’s hard to see.”

The comments come after an “embarrassing” faux pas by Meghan, who lives in Montecito with Harry and their two children.

Meghan found herself in hot water for overshadowing the announcement that the Princess of Wales would appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony at Trooping the Color last weekend.

Just hours before Kate Middleton appeared at the event, her first appearance in several months since her ongoing cancer treatment, a friend of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex posted a photo of Megan’s new jam and dog treats.

Meghan recently announced that she will be selling a range of luxury home goods from her American Riviera Orchard brand.

Nacho Figueras, a polo player and a friend of the Sussexes, shared a photo of Meghan’s new jam online, along with a photo with his dog and a pack of cookies made by the brand.

Richard explained that the awkward overshadowing was the result of their “marketing campaign” where the former actress sent merchandise to friends and influencers to post, but “you never know when they’re going to post something, so you have no control over it at all.”

Figueras is among about 50 people believed to have received a PR package from the young lifestyle brand Soft, which was launched by the Duchess earlier this year.

“It’s very embarrassing if it’s right before Catherine’s return to Trooping Colour, it can look very pointed,” the expert said.

Rebecca English, Royal Editor at the Daily Mail, added that the jam incident was ‘awkward’ but was explained by the fact that the lines of communication between the Sussexes and working royals were ‘non-existent’.

“People don’t tell them things because they don’t trust them,” she claimed.

“It just shows how wise Queen Elizabeth was to have a half-in, half-out job.”

This year marks the second year that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not invited to the annual celebration, which marks the reigning monarch’s birthday.

It comes after claims that Prince Harry, who did not meet his father during his whirlwind visit to London last month, turned down an invitation from His Majesty to stay at a royal residence during the trip because he had “security concerns”.

Meghan and Harry first attended Trooping the Color together in 2018, a month after their royal wedding in Windsor. In 2019, they appeared again on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, weeks after welcoming their first child.
