Missy Elliott reveals the REAL reason why she hasn’t toured in over 20 years

Missy Elliott will headline her own concert tour for the first time in twenty years.

The 52-year-old singer – the first female rapper inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – will kick off the Out of This World – Missy Elliott Experience tour this summer after a lengthy health battle.

On Thursday, the actress revealed that since being diagnosed with Graves’ disease and dealing with a busy schedule had become too much.

“Every day I wake up, I’m blessed to be here and in good health,” she said People.

Regarding her current condition, the Get Ur Freak On singer told the outlet that she is “feeling so much better.”

She said, ‘That was running. Every now and then you have a little pain in your leg or knee, but otherwise I feel fine.’

The hitmaker admitted that her health played a big factor in her musical hiatus, sharing that she is “definitely an introvert.”

Elliott had also indicated that collaborating with Ciara for a concert tour had been a long time in the making.

“Ciara asked and asked me,” she said. “I’d say, ‘Okay,’ but then I’d always be in the studio doing something else.”

The 38-year-old Like a Boy hitmaker went on to talk about Elliott and how close the friends are.

“Missy has always been one of my biggest inspirations and is like a big sister to me,” Ciara told the outlet.

‘She is the definition of a true artist. “She has always raised the bar to the highest level, and I feel so blessed that we were able to share some of our biggest hits together,” she shared.

The starlet added that with the upcoming tour, she has “no doubt that we are going to give fans an extraordinary experience.”

Elliot said she also has over-the-top plans for the highly anticipated tour.

The tour will also feature Busta Rhymes and kicks off on July 4 in Vancouver, BC, Canada at the Rogers Arena.
