New trailer for The Penguin TV show teases a Batman crime epic to rival The Sopranos – and a September release date for Max

The official trailer for The penguin has been revealed – and it looks like it The hitter‘s first TV spin-off goes all out to deliver a comic book-inspired take The sopranos.
The latest footage from the highly anticipated Max TV show, which you can watch below, shows more of the civil war that will erupt in Gotham City’s criminal underworld following – spoiler – the death of Carmine Falcone in the first Batman film starring Robert Pattinson in the lead role. The emerging war will pit Colin Farrell’s Oswald Cobblepot, aka the Penguin, against Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti), the daughter of Carmine Falcone and heir to her father’s criminal empire.
The crime thriller show’s latest teaser isn’t the only thing announced by Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). Revealed in a press release and in the show’s first poster on X/Twitter, The penguin will debut in September on Max, aka one of the world’s best streaming services. The confirmed release date comes just a week after HBO boss Casey Bloys all but confirmed it The penguin was set to release on WBD’s streaming platform in September.
Unfortunately, there is no news about when The penguin will be available to stream in the UK or Australia. It was previously confirmed that the show starring Farrell will air on Sky and Now TV on British shores later this year, but an official release date has not yet been announced. A streamer and launch date have also not yet been revealed for Australia. I have reached out to my contacts for confirmation on when and where The penguin will be available in these countries, and I’ll update this article if I hear back.

I spoke to Ny Breaking in March 2022 The hitterHowever, after launch, Farrell told Ny Breaking that the story will be told over “six to eight hours” of screen time. He teased what we can expect from Cobblepot as a character, adding: “I only have six or seven scenes in the movie, so Oswald is still kind of an unknown certainty for me as well. I’ve been getting really excited by the prospect of learning what the parameters are, if indeed there are any for the character.
“He has a wonderful sense of humor. He’s quite funny, but he’s not, but he thinks he is. He’s definitely dangerous and has a bit of a psychopath inside him. But he’s also a bit broken inside .” , as many of us are, so it will be fun to explore all those aspects.”
