It also features a 30 meter rear terrace overlooking the river, which would be an ideal spot for entertaining in the warmer months.

Built in the 1920s, the Georgian-style home features an impressive 12,000 square feet of space and an elegant brick and stone exterior.

Visitors driving up the secluded circular driveway to the estate will encounter a series of elegant white columns decorating the grand front entrance.

Turner, the real estate agent, noted that Douglas and Zeta-Jones had modernized the house with significant renovations, though he emphasized that they took care to preserve the mansion’s historic character.

“There’s a mix of formal and informal rooms,” he explained. “There’s a family room off the kitchen, which a lot of these old townhouses don’t have.”

Another attractive aspect of the mansion is that it is move-in ready, which Turner says is a rarity among the antebellum mansions in the area.

It has an ideal location with lots of privacy thanks to the woods and river that surround it, but the mansion is also just minutes from downtown Irvington, where the new owners can visit shops and restaurants.

There is also a train in town that runs to Manhattan when they want a quick trip to the city.
