Karine Jean-Pierre blasts ‘cheap fake’ videos of Biden being physically led by Obama and Meloni and refutes ‘freeze’ at Juneteenth event: ‘I didn’t know dancing was a mental problem… a health problem’
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre ripped a series of recent videos showing President Biden being led off stage or standing motionless at cheering events as “cheap fakes” as she defended the president’s power .
“That’s exactly what they are. They are cheap fake videos,” she said, following a series of reports about Biden “freezing” for a few moments during public events.
She specifically took issue with the claim that Biden froze during a Juneteenth event at the White House, where people around him, including Vice President Kamala Harris, were swaying to music.
“The president was standing there listening to the music and he wasn’t dancing. “Excuse me, I didn’t know dancing wasn’t a mental issue, it was a health issue,” she said.
“That’s a weird thing to highlight, if you look at the people around him – if you look at the extended video of the people around him, they weren’t, they weren’t – there were a few people dancing too not.’
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tore up videos she called “cheap fakes” showing officials including Barack Obama escorting President Biden from the stage
‘Just because you listen to music while standing and not dance. That is not a health problem. That’s just not a health issue,” she said.
Her comments to a reporter came shortly after DailyMail.com asked Jean-Pierre about recent videos of former President Barack Obama and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni accompanying him after the events, and whether they had been asked to do so.
“Let’s not forget: President Obama and President Biden are in a relationship. They are friends. They are like family. And I think you saw that,” she said, referring to a video after a $30 million fundraiser in which Biden stood still for several seconds as the crowd applauded at the end of the event before Obama took him by the arm grabbed him and led him off the stage. .
She also dismissed the video of Italy’s Meloni, who also grabbed Biden by the arm during an event at the G7 where leaders watched a parachute demonstration. Biden briefly left the group to greet a skydiver, but was led back by Meloni for a photo-op.
“That was definitely a cheap knockoff,” she said.
It was a scuffle. Jean-Pierre appeared to be ready to have previously labeled the videos as “cheap fakes” when she was first asked about them during her briefing on Monday, her first in several days.
“Excuse me, I didn’t know dancing was a mental issue — a health issue,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said as she defended the president’s dance-free moments during a Juneteenth celebration at the White House .
Just this way: Jean-Pierre responded to questions about officials, including Italy’s Giorgia Meloni, who accompanied the president at events
Former President Barack Obama led Biden off stage after a fundraiser in Los Angeles
On Saturday, a video of former President Barack Obama grabbing Biden’s hand and apparently leading the 81-year-old commander in chief off stage during a fundraiser in Los Angeles went viral.
Last week, Biden stood motionless and stared blankly for nearly a full minute at a Juneteenth celebration at the White House as people around him sang and danced to the music.
“I think it tells you everything we need to know about how desperate, how desperate the Republicans are here,” she said.
“Rather than Republicans, you know, focusing on the president’s performance in office and what he’s accomplished so far. They do this cheap face. They are cheap counterfeit products.’
It comes as the president prepares to head to his Delaware beach house and Camp David for what are expected to be extended debate sessions, where he will prepare for a televised clash with Donald Trump on CNN.
The Biden camp wants to use the debate as an opportunity to reverse their sagging poll numbers. Some veteran Democrats and observers, including FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver, have wondered whether Democrats should somehow remove Biden from the ticket.
Jean-Pierre also referenced a statement from former President Obama’s office suggesting his post-presidential office had addressed the issue.
Obama’s office released a statement. So I refer you to that statement as to what was accused therein by others. And he said this didn’t happen in the sense of what people said, said they saw, right? Or what was falsely reported they saw.
The White House confirmed she was referring to a four-word phrase after by Obama spokesman Eric Shultz who simply wrote, “This did not happen.”
“You saw the president put his hand behind President Biden’s back and they walked off stage. After answering questions. Or answer questions from Jimmy Kimmel during an event. That’s what you saw,” Jean-Pierre said.
