Shocking moment businessman is kidnapped by gunmen and then escapes by jumping out of ambulance

This is the shocking moment a businessman was kidnapped at gunpoint before escaping his captors by jumping from the ambulance they used in the kidnapping.

The victim, 33, was seen on surveillance video getting out of an SUV and removing a backpack as the kidnappers pulled up in their car at a building in Bogotá, Colombia’s capital, on Saturday.

One of the kidnappers pointed his gun and tried to grab the businessman, who tried to fend off the suspect.

Another suspect can be seen running from a red vehicle and attacking the victim until they were able to push him into the ambulance.

The vehicle took off as shocked bystanders watched, as a person approached the businessman’s companion. In the background the red car can be seen fleeing in the opposite direction.

One of the kidnappers pointed his gun at the businessman moments before one of his accomplices helped him force the victim into the ambulance in Bogotá, Colombia, on Saturday.

A separate security camera shows the ambulance turning a corner and speeding down a street – just seconds before the businessman somehow jumped out.

The getaway driver immediately hit the brakes as the businessman lay on the sidewalk, got up and drove away.

At least two of the suspects got out of the ambulance while one of them appeared to look for something on the ground, then got back in and fled.

A police report obtained by El Tiempo newspaper revealed that the businessman, who specializes in real estate, had never received any threats and that the kidnappers had tracked his movements.

Bogotá’s health department said in a statement on Tuesday that the ambulance used by the kidnappers had been out of service since May 2 due to mechanical problems.

“The agency will continue to work with the relevant authorities to clarify these unfortunate events,” the health ministry said.

The suspects remained on the run until Wednesday. The ambulance is still missing.
