There will be an Adventure Time movie from Rebecca Sugar, Patrick McHale and Adam Muto
Cartoon Network is in production on one Adventure Time film, with the talents of Adventure Time veterans Rebecca Sugar, Patrick McHale and Adam Muto, reports Variety.
There’s little more news about the project, such as whether it will be released in theaters or on the Max streaming service, or which of the two Adventure TimeThe extensive cast it will focus on, but that lineup of creators should grab the attention of any fan of the venerable animated series.
The film appears to be Sugar’s first new major work since the end of film Steven Universe And Steven Universe Future. McHale made his post-BEE name as the creator of the beloved Over the garden wall miniseries, while Muto has continued to shepherd Adventure Time through a series of spin-off specials and Adventure time: Fionna and Cakehas already been renewed for a second season.
Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network have also greenlit two spinoff series aimed specifically at a child audience – an interesting distinction to make with the film. Adventure Time: Side Missions will bring the children’s audience back to Finn and Jake’s childhood before the heroes for standalone episodes, while Time for adventure: Heyo BMO will target the preschool audience, in what appears to be a claymation series starring the lovable robot BMO and perhaps Shelby the worm?
“After settling into a new neighborhood,” writes Variety, “BMO and a group of new friends will take on challenges more suited to younger viewers.” Muto is also connected to this series.
