White ‘office Karen’ threatens to call security on black woman using Buffalo law firm’s bathroom before a stunning twist
- A confrontation at a New York law firm went viral on TikTok
- An out-of-state ‘Karen’ is now making waves after questioning a black woman
An ‘office Karen’ has come under fire for images of her calling in a black woman’s security for using a bathroom in the office building where they both work.
The woman who was targeted posted a video of the unpleasant encounter last week at a law firm’s office in Buffalo, New York.
The woman, with the username @top-cat716, recorded herself coming out of a bathroom in the building that she seemed to be able to access without any problems.
But as she walks out, a white woman in the hallway, who appears to have been waiting for her, begins to speak.
“Can I ask who you report to so I can call the law firm?” the woman asks.
The woman filming asks why it’s a problem that she used this bathroom, to which she is told, “Because you have to stay on the floor in the bathroom.”
‘Why do I have to stay on my floor? Because what?’ dismisses the employee.
It appears that both women work for the law firm on different floors of the building.
“Why not stay on your floor?” the white woman asked.
“I can use whatever bathroom I want to use. This is the law firm I work at,” the woman replied as she continued recording.
The other woman then says she is going to call security, before choosing to go downstairs and file a report in person.
‘Contact security. I work here. You sound stupid,” @Top_cat716 shouted after her down the hall.
Viewers of the video, which has been viewed 850,000 times, have expressed their support for the woman who was called out.
Some encouraged her to continue using the bathroom on that floor.
Others wondered who appointed the other employee as the ‘toilet police’?
The out-of-state “Karen” was apparently waiting to confront the black employee when she came out of the bathroom
The black law firm employee recorded the confrontation and uploaded it to her TikTok, where she wrote, “in Buffalo NY I can’t use a PUBLIC BATHROOM”
At the end of the video, the woman turns and walks to the security desk where she says she is making a report.
Since the spring of 2020, recordings of white women confronting Black people for what sometimes seems like a random or trivial reason have become a popular genre of online content.
These so-called “Karens” are meant to illustrate the larger societal problem of white people – and especially women – antagonizing black people by accusing them of minor or trumped-up offenses and using that opportunity to call law enforcement authorities.
