Microsoft is launching a white version of the Xbox Series

Nothing can ruin a relaxing evening of gaming like realizing that the disc for your favorite game has been lost or, worse yet, scratched.

But luckily, Microsoft has now unveiled a new white version of the Xbox Series

Inside, Microsoft says the console is exactly the same as the previous Series X, with the only difference being the absence of a drive.

The console will retail for €449.99 (UK price yet to be announced) and will include 1 terabyte of memory – enough to store 250 HD movies.

In almost every other detail, however, the Digital Edition is identical to the previous Series X model, offering the same performance across all games.

The only difference is that games must be downloaded directly to the console rather than purchased on discs.

The new console designs were announced yesterday during the Xbox Games Showcase by Xbox President Sarah Bond.

For really serious gamers, Ms Bond has also unveiled a version of the Xbox Series

The Galaxy Black Special Edition features a disc drive, a limited edition color and an impressive 2TB built-in storage capacity.

In a blog post, Xbox hardware chief Roanne Sones said: “This new special edition Xbox Series

This high-end option will cost $599.99 and only a limited number will be produced.

Ms Bond also revealed that the Xbox Series S would get a Robot White option with an improved 1TB memory.

This marks a serious upgrade over the original 512GB of the Series S, but also comes with an increased price tag of $349.99.

That makes it more expensive compared to the $299.99 Series S, but still cheaper than the $499.99 Series

The console joins the Carbon Black 1TB Series S that Microsoft unveiled last year during the Xbox Games Showcase.

However, the release of the all-digital Series

Last year, internal documents accidentally released in lawsuits revealed a redesigned version of the Series

The new console would have been cylindrical in shape – not cuboid like the current Series

If true, this would be the first time Microsoft has released a major new product since the Series S and Series X first hit stores in November 2020.

This comes after Microsoft revealed it would be cutting around 1,900 jobs across its gaming division, including within its Xbox team.

The cuts represent about eight percent of Microsoft’s gaming division, which reportedly consists of about 22,000 employees.

Microsoft has yet to provide any details on when UK gamers will be able to get their hands on the new consoles.

Estimated retail prices are currently only given in euros and US dollars and the company says these models will not be available in all regions.

More information on regional availability will be released later in the coming months as pre-order information is released.
