Then in November 2022, Eamonn suffered a horrific accident where he fell down a flight of stairs at his Surrey home, breaking his shoulder weeks after his massive spinal surgery.

Speaking to Woman’s Weekly, Ruth said: ‘I don’t know how much Eamonn’s mobility will improve. We live in hope.
‘He’s doing the physio, but maybe there needs to be some acceptance that this may never be 100% right. Every healthcare situation – and there are millions of healthcare providers in this country – is not always easy. It’s a challenge, but we’re making it as a family.”
Ruth added: ‘When I look at Eamonn, who has health and back problems, you realize how important your health is.’

This week a friend of Ruth’s told me The mirror: ‘Ruth was hurt when she heard about Eamonn’s friendship with another woman, but she is strong and she will be back soon with a smile on her face and doing her best, as she always does.
‘She needs some time to regroup after everything that’s happened, which is understandable, but she plans to return to Loose Women in July with renewed vigor.’
The friend also insisted there was ‘no chance’ the pair would ever get back together.

Eamonn and Ruth recently unveiled they are headed for divorce after-work commitments “took their marriage in different directions.”
Although Eamonn’s new friendship would not be a reason for the marriage to break up, it is clear that Ruth did not know her until recently and has decided to take time off from work.
The source said: ‘Ruth was clearly aware that her marriage was crumbling, but as details come to light, her anger has turned to rage.
‘Eamonn’s friend is impressed by his attention and kindness.’
The pair met via Twitter after the woman replied to a message and it sparked a conversation between the pair.
Friends explained that the woman’s counseling skills include dealing with “feeling sad” and “separation and divorce.” Therefore, it seems fitting that she will support Eamonn during this time of uncertainty.

Friends of Eamonn said he was ‘angry and bewildered’ at her decision to share the news they were divorcing.
He learned of her plan just hours before the statement was released on Saturday afternoon through Ruth’s spokesperson, who said: ‘Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed that their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.’
The announcement was described as a ‘joint statement’.
A friend of Eamonn told the Mail: ‘Eamonn was blinded, it was terrible for him.
“He literally discovered it very shortly before it was published – you’re talking hours.
“It all seems a bit bizarre considering the statement said they hoped to keep the matter amicable.
‘Eamonn wanted nothing to do with it, he couldn’t see any reason why you would release that statement.
‘It was written and signed entirely by Ruth and her team. Ultimately, he had no power over it whatsoever.”
