Katie Holmes reveals her daughter Suri, 18, often steals her clothes but admits the teen has ‘her own sense of style’ in rare interview

Katie Holmes has revealed that her 18-year-old daughter Suri often steals her clothes, as she said in a rare interview on Sunday.

The actress and fashion icon, 45, – who shares Suri with her ex-husband Tom Cruise, 61, – admitted that ‘basics’ in her wardrobe sometimes ‘disappear for good’.

She added that even though her teen wants to borrow some pieces every now and then, she still “has her own sense of style.”

At the request of The times if she hopes to pass on her wardrobe to Suri, she said, “Um, sure. I mean, I’ve kept a few things here and there. But she has her own sense of style and her own expressions.”

She added that Suri stole her clothes: “Sometimes the basic things disappear for good. But that’s fine.’

She said that even though her teen wants to borrow some pieces every now and then, she still ‘has her own sense of style’ (seen in 2017)

When asked if motherhood has changed her sense of style, she explained: “In some ways I feel like yes. When my child was very small, I was attracted to wearing a lot of dresses.

‘You indeed go through these different phases of motherhood and they tell you what you feel comfortable with and what you don’t. So over the years my style has changed here and there.’

Suri is currently taking the summer off before heading to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the fall to study at Carnegie Mellon University.

Despite coming from two of the biggest stars in the world, Suri doesn’t seem to want to follow the path that so many Hollywood fake babies have trod by forging her own career on the big or small screen.

Instead, she is determined to remain “private,” an insider exclusively told DailyMail.com in April.

Suri will graduate from high school this month and then prepare for college in the fall, where she will reportedly study fashion.

Carnegie Mellon’s School of Design is one of the nation’s oldest and most highly regarded programs.

An insider told DailyMail.com: ‘She’s a smart girl and she’s turning into a very intelligent, mature young woman. She has a very close group of loyal friends and knows exactly where she comes from.’

But while Holmes is proud of her daughter’s amazing achievement, sources say she is “overwhelmed” at the thought of sending her little girl to college.

Someone recently told DailyMail.com: ‘Katie is very proud of her, but is also extremely overprotective.’

While Suri may not have all of her future plans crystallized yet, one thing about her future is clear: her Scientologist father Tom will have no role in it.

“Suri won’t have any contact with her father despite being 18, and even if he called she wouldn’t answer,” a source previously told DailyMail.com.

“He doesn’t exist for Katie or Suri, and his daughter won’t rely on him for anything. She feels like she has one parent and that’s her mother.’

Suri celebrated her 18th birthday in April, meaning the Top Gun star will no longer have to pay child support to Katie, an amount that reportedly amounted to a hefty $400,000 per year.
