Camera tweak for iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max teased in new schematic leak
We don’t expect any major design changes when the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max break the cover (most likely in September), but a new leak points to a tweak in the design of the rear camera housing. the back of the handsets.
This tip is from the usually reliable leak supplier @UniverseelIce, and comes in the form of a schematic drawing showing “an increased height of 3.9mm” for the camera unit. It’s not clear what the equivalent is on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, but it’s apparently increasing.

In other words, the new phones may be even more slanted if you lay them flat and face up on a surface – although to be fair the difference probably won’t be noticeable unless you’re really looking for it.
Let’s hope the increase in height, if that’s what it is, means more camera technology can be incorporated. There are rumors of sensor improvements for both the main and ultra-wide cameras – with the latter apparently jumping from 12MP to 48MP.
Millimeters matter
With these phones expected to debut in September, alongside the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, we’ve now heard quite a bit of leaks and speculation about what Apple could have in store this year.
In addition to a larger camera bump, there are rumors that the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s screen will be larger: up to 6.9 inches compared to the current 6.7 inches. However, this may not have much impact on the overall dimensions of the smartphone.
That’s because both the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro are rumored to have the thinnest bezels we’ve ever seen on a phone. This means that the displays can become larger without having to increase the actual dimensions of the flagships.
Based on previous leaks, there could be as little as millimeters if you compare the 2024 iPhones to the 2023 models they replace. All should be revealed later this year – but first we have Apple’s WWDC 2024 software show to keep an eye on.
