Every big announcement and trailer from Summer Game Fest 2024

It’s going to be a hot summer… for video games! Host Geoff Keighley’s annual showcase of what’s to come in the gaming world, Summer Game Fest, kicked off Friday with a two-hour extravaganza of game trailers, announcements and surprising reveals.

In addition to new looks at Capcom Monster Hunter WildsAtlus’ Metaphor: ReFantazioand that of Funcom Dune: Awakening, viewers were treated to a host of new games and first looks at gameplay. Here’s everything big announced at Summer Game Fest 2024.

Lego Horizon Adventures

Aloy’s adventures through a post-post-apocalyptic wasteland just got a lot… cuter? And stupid! Lego Horizon Adventures is an isometric, Lego-based version of Guerrilla Games’ open-world adventure series, coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC later this year.

Harry Potter Quidditch Champions

The multiplayer Quidditch game set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter will be released this summer. Our first look at Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions also has a release date: the game will come to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X on September 3. It will be available from day one via PlayStation Plus.

Cuff bust

The developer behind the horror train game Choo Choo Charles revealed Cuff bust, a cute, chaotic escape game where you play as Jailiens trying to escape the hoosegow. It will be released in 2025.

Sid Meier’s civilization 7

The next installment in the Civilization series is finally official. Sid Meier’s civilization 7 will bring back the great historical 4X turn-based strategy game series and destroy your sleep schedule when it releases on PC and consoles in 2025.

Street Fighter 6 Years 2 characters bring the Capcom vs. SNK

The Street fighter 6 the roster is expanding, with M. Bison (this summer), Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard (fall) and Mai Shiranui (winter 2025), and Street fighter 3‘s Elena (Spring 2025), Capcom unveiled at Summer Game Fest.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero

The Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi series returns with Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero this fall. The high-flying fighting game comes to PS5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X on October 11.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

A new trailer for SNKs Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves confirms an early 2025 release window on PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X, and shows new fighters B. Jenet and Vox Reaper in action.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Capcom has already shown plenty of it Monster Hunter Wilds, the next game in the open world action-adventure hunting franchise. At Summer Game Fest, Monster Hunter enthusiasts learned even more, thanks to an appearance by series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and a new trailer. Tsujimoto promised to look into it again Monster Hunter Wilds later this summer during Gamescom Opening Night Live.

Metaphor: ReFantazio

Persona fans, take note. Atlus and Studio Zero have revealed more about it Metaphor: ReFantaziotheir new turn-based fantasy strategy game with a new trailer and a release date: October 11 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series

Six titles from Blumhouse Games

Blumhouse, the film production company that (usually) turns indie budget horror films into blockbusters, is getting into games. At Summer Game Fest, the new Blumhouse Games division unveiled its first projects: Crisol Theater of Idols from Vermila Studios, Serious seasons from Perfect Garbage, Sleep awake from Eyes out, Fear the spotlight from Cozy Game Pals, The simulation from PlayMeStudio, and Project C by Sam Barlow and Brandon Cronenberg.

Alan Wake 2: Nocturnal Springs

More Alan Wake to come. Remedy’s first expansion for Alan Wake2 presents “mysterious, terrifying and quirky what-if scenarios,” says Sam Lake plainly The twilight zone mood. Alan Wake 2: Nocturnal Springs comes out this weekend.

Phantom leaf 0

S-Game’s new trailer for character action game Phantom leaf 0 looked more Sekiro-like ever at Summer Game Fest.

Cutter head

The new horror game from ex-Silent Hill and Siren developers may not be what you expected, but Cutter head has some fascinating design choices, such as the ability to create machine guns, swords, spears, and claws from human blood to combat horribly mutated humans. Cutter head also received a release date: November 8.

Dune: Awakening

Funcom’s Dune survival MMO continues to look great, and in a new story-heavy trailer we get a look at the set-up Dune: Awakening: a universe without Paul Atreides.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind

Summer Game Fest saw the unveiling of a new Power Rangers game from Digital Eclipse, the developer increasingly known for its carefully researched and richly presented archive collections of retro games. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind takes classic moments from the show and wraps them in retro gameplay styles, with a time-traveling twist.

Cairn

The makers behind it Furi And Refuge unveiled their next project, an intense looking and stylish mountain climbing game called Cairn.

Hiking stop

Annapurna Interactive and Ivy Road – written by Davey Wreden, creator of Stanley’s parableKarla Zimonja, co-creator of Went home And Tacomaand Daniel “C418” Rosenfeld, the composer behind the music of Minecraft – revealed Hiking stop, which they describe as “a story-oriented, fun game about change and tea.” As fallen fighter Alta, you manage a tea shop in a magical forest and take care of the customers who pass through it, something she doesn’t really want to do. Sounds like there’s another layer behind it… Hiking stop coming to PlayStation 5 and PC.

Sonic X Shadow Generations

Sega’s remaster of Sonic Generationsnow with extra Shadow the Hedgehog, released on October 25th.

Valorant is coming to PS5 and Xbox

Riot Games’ tactical team-based shooter makes the jump from PC to console. ValorantThe PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will launch later this year, with a limited beta test starting on June 14.

Hyperlightbreaker

Heart machine gave Hyper light glider fans a long and tantalizing look at the 3D sequel, Hyperlightbreakerand brought good news: the new game is coming to Steam early this summer.

Neva

Summer Game Fest gave us a closer look Nevathe ’emotionally charged action adventure’ from the developer of Gris. According to the game’s official description, Neva tells the story of Alba, a young woman who finds herself tied to a curious wolf cub after a traumatic encounter with dark forces. Together they embark on a dangerous journey through a once beautiful world that is slowly decaying around them.”

Black Myth: Wukong

Action game Black Myth: Wukong is a fantastic game, but the latest trailer is all CG. The PC game will be released on August 20.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess

Capcom’s fantasy strategy action game Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess got a surprise release date (surprisingly soon): July 19th.
