Progressive pundit Briahna Joy Gray is fired after her shocking response to sister of Oct 7 Hamas hostage
Controversial progressive pundit Briahna Joy Gray has been fired from The Hill after appearing to roll her eyes while interviewing the sister of an Israeli woman taken hostage by Hamas.
‘Finally it happened. The Hill fired me,” Gray said Thursday on X alongside an image of her termination letter from the outlet.
She added: “There should be no doubt that @RisingHill has a clear pattern of suppressing speech – especially if it is critical of the State of Israel.”
Gray’s dismissal comes from The Hill’s YouTube show after she was criticized on social media for her treatment of Oct. 7 Israeli hostage Romi Gonen’s sister, Yarden.
The former press secretary for Democratic Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders appeared to roll her eyes and interrupted Yarden as she said she hoped Gray believed women who say they were sexually assaulted by Hamas.

“I really hope that you, especially women, will believe them when they say they were hurt,” Gonen said.
The political commentator intervened and said, “Okay, thanks for joining us. Linger.’
Throughout the interview, Gray tried to focus on Israel’s actions in Gaza, while Yarden repeatedly stated that she did not want to talk about politics and only wanted to raise awareness about her sister and other hostages.
Yarden said, “I’m here to talk about my sister; Please help me spread her story. Help me make people understand what she is going through as a woman in 2024.”
Gray had also previously said: “I really hope that Netanyahu agrees and Israel agrees to a ceasefire or a deal that could bring all the hostages home, including your sister. And I’m sure many people watching are praying for her safety.”
X users have criticized Gray online, accusing her of anti-Semitism and a lack of compassion.
Carly Pildis of the Anti-Defamation League said, “The way Brianna Joy Gray grins and rolls her eyes at Israeli pain paints a picture of dehumanization.
“She can’t bear to see Israelis as people worthy of sympathy. My global Jewish community is suffering the backlash from the anti-Semitism that Briahna has promoted.”
Democratic Bronx Congressman Ritchie Torres also joined in, responding to Gray’s resignation.
“I have as much sympathy for Briahna Joy Gray as I do for the hostages,” Rep. Torres said on X. “None.”
Ritchie had previously said: ‘The relative of an Israeli hostage begs Briahna Joy Gray to believe Jewish women kidnapped, tortured and raped by Hamas.

Instead of projecting empathy, as a normal human being would, Gray rolls her eyes, her mouth dripping with disdain. Gray harbors a hatred of the Jewish state so deep-seated and fanatical that it makes her cruelly indifferent to the value of Jewish life.
Meanwhile, Iranian activist Matthew Nouriel said: “Briahna Joy Gray sums up everything that is wrong with the American left: a lack of knowledge coupled with overconfidence.
‘Add to that her total arrogance and outright hatred of Jews and this is what you get: a narcissistic bastard who finds this acceptable. She’s a disgrace.’
Gray has said she will discuss her resignation further on her podcast, but blames her on X for her support for Palestine.
The expert said her dismissal was “clearly part of a coordinated effort.”
She reposted a response from fellow progressive podcast host Krystal Ball, which read:
‘Another person fired because he dared to support Palestinian humanity. I have no doubt that Briahna will continue to have great success outside of the corporate media, but these attempts to silence pro-Palestinian voices are intended to intimidate those who do not have Brie’s fortitude and ability to withstand the attacks .’
Gray has not been shy about her views on Israel, and has openly said that she believes the country should not exist as a state in its current form.

Gray has not been shy about her views on Israel, and has openly said that she believes the country should not exist as a state in its current form.
Last month, during a panel at the Dissident Dialogues festival, she said: “When Hamas talks about eliminating Israel, it is not about killing all the Jews.
“It’s about eliminating the idea of a Jewish state – ending a Jewish state, ending an ethno-nationalist state and having a state that is more like what we have in the United States of America.”
After the panel, as reported by the New Republic, Gray told the moderator, “This is the most Islamophobic, racist crowd I have ever seen.
She added: ‘It’s disgusting. I hope someone drops a bomb on this whole building.”
