Newcastle and adidas reunite after 14 years, as Magpies launch new 2024-25 home kit and training range – as club legend Alan Shearer dons black-and-white stripes once again

Newcastle and Adidas have officially launched the club’s home kit and training range for 2024-25 after reuniting with German athletics after 14 years.

The Magpies last wore the three stripes during the 2009-10 season, with Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak and Dan Burn all modeling the new kit.

Hundreds of fans queued outside St James’ Park on Friday morning to get their hands on one of the new home shirts. The line of supporters wound its way along several blocks leading to the club’s merchandise store.

It features Newcastle’s iconic black and white stripes and is inspired by their classic 2002-03 home kit, which was worn during the Magpies’ most recent appearance in the Champions League, excluding the 2022-2023 season.

It comes after Newcastle and Adidas announced a multi-year partnership in 2023. The news first leaked during Newcastle’s Amazon Prime documentary, where a delegation of club representatives traveled to Germany – where Adidas is based – to reach an agreement.

Co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi was pictured at the factory during the episode, telling Adidas employees, “It feels like two old lovers coming back together.”

The club says the stripes on the new shirt are a tribute to that era, more powerful than the stripes on last season’s shirt, which was produced by Castore.

The deal will see the German sportswear brand become Newcastle’s official kit partner from next season, having previously supplied the club between 1995 and 2010.

The club will wear the new kit for the first time during the summer preparatory matches.

Peter Silverstone, Newcastle’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: ‘This iconic home kit and training range symbolizes the start of an exciting partnership with Adidas, one of the world’s most renowned sportswear brands.

“The strength of the relationship Adidas maintains with our passionate fan base gives us great confidence that the exciting product ranges they have created for the 24/25 season and beyond will be extremely popular. We know our fans will wear the three stripes with pride.

“This partnership launch, in line with the Club’s in-house retail relaunch, is just the start of an exciting journey.

“Together we hope to capture the imagination and passion of our supporters, who will proudly wear our black and white stripes wherever they are in the world.”

Some of Newcastle’s most iconic moments came while wearing adidas kits, with Alan Shearer wearing three stripes during his Golden Boot-winning seasons of 1994-95, 1995-96 and 1996-97.

He is synonymous with his iconic celebration of raising his hand in the air while wearing the black and white adidas Newcastle kit and was pictured as part of the adidas campaign donning the new home shirt.

Meanwhile, manager Eddie Howe and his assistant Jason Tindall were also able to model some of the new training range, which has a very fresh and modern look, while fans on social media couldn’t get enough of the new hoodie and tracksuit range.

Mail Sport understands Newcastle will kick off their Adidas relationship by heading to Germany for a training camp later this summer.
