Sydnie Christmas has defended her Britain’s Got Talent win after trolls claimed her win was a ‘total fix’.

The 28-year-old singer scooped the coveted £250,000 prize on Sunday night and will perform at the Royal Variety Show later this year following her rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

However, viewers of the ITV show reacted furiously online after discovering the singer had already enjoyed a career in music.

And now Sydnie has hit back at the trolls in an angry statement as she took to Instagram to celebrate her win and shut out the haters.

She wrote: ‘Alright then…For the trolls. It’s heartbreaking to see. But listen. You don’t know me or the fierce backbone I have, I owe that to my supportive family and friends.

However, Sydnie isn’t letting the negative reaction spoil her big moment after years of chasing her dreams of being in the West End.

She began her post, “How do I even start writing this. To my dear family and friends near and far. There is no word big enough to describe my love and gratitude to each of you who believed in me.

“I pray I have made you proud. I’m glad I could give you all something back and something to show for, after supporting me all these years, I cry. AGAIN. Goddamnit.

‘The most wonderful experience!! And how lucky I was to have this experience with my grandmothers. Every person I worked with was wonderful. Meeting all the wonderful participants was the highlight. Best people ever.’

Sydnie also spoke about the ‘soul destroying’ reaction surrounding her win on the series in an interview with Subway.

She told the publication that seeing the backlash surrounding her win was “c****y,” and said she “can’t do anything to change her mind.”

She said: ‘I’m new to all the attention. [The fix rumours are] just not true.

Despite scooping the massive prize, Sydnie stuck to her humble roots on Sunday night and hit Wetherspoons to celebrate with her family and friends.

‘Everything has been sincere and I have said my truth, so when I say that it is not, I question myself. There’s nothing that breaks my heart more than seeing it [the doubt].

‘It really makes me feel cr**py. It’s soul destroying, but there’s nothing I can do to change their minds, so I’ve had to secede.”
