Is this Married At First Sight’s wackiest bride yet? New Zealand woman performs reiki on her guinea pig in wild introduction
One of Married At First Sight’s New Zealand brides has given one of the most memorable first impressions in the show’s colorful history.
Madeleine, 37, will make her debut on the New Zealand edition of the reality dating experiment later this month, and it looks like she will be unforgettable with fans.
In an introductory video ahead of the show’s launch on May 26, the bride made a very daring first impression as she gave Reiki to a hamster.
In the unique video, Madeleine talked about how she is both an account manager and a Reiki healer, before providing insight into her latest career path and passion.
Madeleine was shown using a traditional Nepalese singing bowl while a hamster lay on her lap, before waving a crystal in circles around the rodent’s head.

“Reiki is all about gentle touch and working with the energy,” Madeleine said, explaining that she performs Reiki on both people and animals.
“Even skeptics who don’t believe it come for healing and are converted, it’s amazing.”
Reiki is a Japanese form of spiritual therapy that aims to increase energy levels and promote well-being and is performed through non-invasive gentle touch.
In the video, Madeleine further explained how she is looking for a fun and loyal man to settle down with on MAFS and said she has been single for seven years.
Madeleine – who broke up with her ex-husband at the age of 30 – said she decided to take part in the experiment after struggling with dating apps.

‘Apps are worthless. “They basically always just want one thing, they always just want to get into Pandora’s Box, which there’s no way in hell it’s going to happen – not that easy,” she said.
She further admitted that she wasn’t sure if she had ever been ‘really’ in love, but that she really wanted to find a partner to fall in love with.
“I would like to have that love, I would like to be loved for who I am and not be judged for it,” she said.
The upcoming fourth series of MAFS NZ will see Madeleine paired with Nate, a 30-year-old aviation officer from Wellington.
The couple will join seven other brides and grooms for the first time as they walk down the aisle before ‘marrying’ each other in a huge leap of faith.

The trailer has already hinted that there will be some tumultuous love stories to follow, with high emotions and fiery confrontations unfolding.
“Things are about to get spicy,” one bride announced in the promotional video, setting the tone for what promises to be a rollercoaster season.
“The road to love has never been rockier,” came the voiceover as the contestants were seen in tears.
The drama escalated when one groom accused the other of ‘gaslighting’, while a bride also bluntly dismissed a mysterious situation as ‘bulls**t’.

The trailer also featured a particularly heated moment between a contestant and the show’s Australian relationship expert, John Aiken, who sternly warns ‘don’t go there’.
John, who has appeared in every season of the Australian series since its inception, joins MAFS NZ to guide a new group of brides and grooms to love.
He will sit on the sofa next to sex therapist Jo Robertson, who will offer participants ‘practical strategies and conversations about chemistry, intimacy and affection’.
“I’m excited to be part of the new relaunch of MAFS NZ. After being involved with the Australian version for over a decade, I can now bring all my learnings and insights to Kiwi singles looking for love,” John recently shared.

‘MAFS NZ will deliver the similar mix of drama, love and relationship learning that audiences love. I think those who tune in will really invest in the couples and watch with interest as they navigate all the challenges.”

Meanwhile, the four grooms are auctioneer and business owner Michael, 36, brewer Piripi, 28, primary school teacher James, 31, and aviation officer Nathaniel, 30.
