We may have just gotten our first look at Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy Fold and Flip
A marketing image for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 recently surfaced online, and if true, it finally gives us our first good look at the two foldable models.
It is not known exactly where the leak came from, but a screenshot of the advertisement has been posted on the website GalaxyFold subreddit by user UnironicallyMe37 who claims it comes from Samsung’s Kazakhstani website. You can even see the URL of the page in the corner, but now if you go to the website you won’t see anything related to any of the devices. The company likely removed the image shortly after it was discovered.
At the center of the leak is the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which seemingly adopts a squarer design compared to the previous generation. The different appearance may lead some people to believe the image is fake, but evidence suggests this is not the case. Firstly, the boxy form factor matches recently found images of what is supposed to be a Galaxy Z Fold 6 dummy unit. If you look at the device, you’ll notice that it’s wider than the Z Fold 5, which comes complete with angular corners.
UnironicallyMe37 would then point out that the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s rear camera system resembles a close-up photo of a smartphone lens taken by industry leaker Ice Universe. In their cover 9To5Google mentions how the color scheme of the foldable matches what the Galaxy S24 Ultra has. This could mean that the Z Fold 6 may be made of titanium, as previously rumored. The metal would make the model lightweight and durable, but also expensive.
Minor design update
Since the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in the image has evidence proving its validity, it can be safe to say that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 in the back is also legit – although that’s hard to say for sure. There haven’t been as many design leaks for the Z Flip 6 as there have been for the Z Fold 6.
The Galaxy Z Flip pictured here looks almost identical to the Galaxy Z Flip 5, with one notable difference. The rings around the lenses are color coded to match the rest of the phone. In this case, both the rings and the body are light blue. Granted, you only see the Z Flip 6 from the back, so it’s possible there are other new design details that aren’t visible from the angle of the leak.
Initial reactions on social media have been largely positive, with many people really enjoying the look of the foldable devices, while others are a bit more skeptical. A handful of users are concerned that the rear camera won’t see any improvements, claiming that the lenses will resemble those of the Galaxy Z Fold 3. However, rumors from earlier this year claim that the phone’s respective cameras will receive several upgrades; namely that the Z Flip 6 will likely get a 50 MP main lens instead of the Flip 5’s 12 MP option.
As with any leak, you should take this information with a grain of salt. And check out Ny Breaking’s list of the best foldable phones for 2024.
