Chennedy Carter receives huge cheer from Chicago Sky crowd as she checks in for first game since bodycheck on Caitlin Clark

Chicago Sky’s Chennedy Carter received a huge cheer as she checked into Tuesday night’s game against the New York Liberty.

The guard returned to the court for the first time since a huge controversy swirled around the WNBA for her brutal body check on Caitlin Clark in the Sky’s previous game against the Indiana Fever.

However, despite the backlash to her blatant foul, Carter was given a hero’s welcome by the home crowd at Wintrust Arena.

Carter entered the match with five minutes left in the first period against Sabrina Ionescu and co. to loud cheers from the fans gathered in Chicago.

She went on to drop 15 points, three rebounds and one assist through the first three periods of the Commissioner’s Cup game.

It comes amid criticism of the 25-year-old for her foul on the 2024 No. 1 draft pick this weekend.

The 25-year-old appeared to shout “you b***h” at the former Iowa star before knocking her to the ground.

The Chicago player then declined to answer questions about Clark immediately following Saturday’s loss to the Indiana Fever.

Carter insisted on Monday night that she has “no regrets” about her brutal body check as she directly addressed the incident for the first time.

Then, Tuesday morning, Carter hit her critics again on Instagram.

In response to an ESPN post with her quotes about the egregious violation, Carter said, “You guys don’t know me, but you think you know my story. Ahhh contradicting yourself’.

In a second post, she added, “So basically we can google Bs and not highlights ok lol.”

It comes after DailyMail.com revealed on Monday that the former fourth overall pick has been traded and dropped from teams in the past due to her off-field behavior – including an incident where she threatened to fight a teammate.

In July 2021, she was suspended by the Atlanta Dream for “conduct detrimental to the team.”

According to reports around the time the suspension was issued, Carter got into an argument with another player on the Dream – Courtney Williams – who asked her to “fix her attitude” during a match.

After the match ended, Carter went to Williams in the locker room and told her she wanted to fight. Once that request for an altercation was denied, Carter withdrew. She no longer played for the Dream.

Before the 2022 season, Atlanta traded her to the Los Angeles Sparks, where she didn’t get much playing time, averaging just 16 minutes per game and only 24 appearances.

She was dismissed in March 2023. It was revealed by the Los Angeles Times that Carter was benched the previous season due to “bad behavior.” It was further reported that interim coach Fred Williams benched Carter for four games due to a ‘coaching decision’.

After playing a season overseas in Turkey, Carter earned a camp invite with the Chicago Sky, which led to a roster spot.
