Jules and Cameron seriously considered IFV before she managed to conceive naturally – a feat she largely attributes to Ayurvedic medicine.

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian wellness practice that claims to help patients achieve balance through food, herbs, meditation, yoga and detoxification.

“I discovered Ayurvedic medicine about two years ago, and when I went to talk to the specialist it became very clear that there was no way my body would make a baby,” Jules explained.

What is Ayurvedic Medicine?

Ayurveda means ‘the science of life’ and is an Indian therapy that assumes that the body maintains its good health through a balance of energies.

These energies – vata, pitta and kapha – are determined by nutrition and emotion. Treatment relies on detoxification and dietary control and often takes the form of herbal medicine, but also includes meditation, astrology, aromatherapy and yoga.

A doctor will assess your diet, lifestyle, and mood and examine you physically before proposing therapy.

It is claimed that Ayurveda can treat gastrointestinal problems, metabolic disorders and circulatory problems, as well as headaches, tension, high blood pressure, migraines, skin conditions and gynecological conditions.

‘The pressure I put on it. You know, work, adrenaline, fight or flight. And I really had to take advantage of it to make a baby. It just all made sense. It was like a drop of water and my body said, “We’re on fire. We’re not going to give you a child right now. You need to relax.”

Jules went on to explain how she also took a meditation course and noted that ‘stress is not conducive to getting pregnant’.

β€œIt’s been a very busy five years, and I think if I had carried on like this it wouldn’t have happened,” she said.

In Ask Jules, the author also recalls how she consulted a medium and underwent chakra healing, color healing and energy treatments while attending a holistic women’s health retreat in Bali.

‘Stress is not conducive to becoming pregnant. Instead, I put my energy into manifesting. I imagined myself pregnant, putting on my maternity clothes and indulging in feminine styles,” Jules writes in her book.

Jules said she “never lost confidence” after all those years of trying to have a baby, and that she had learned the importance of slowing down and focusing on her own needs during the process.

β€œI discovered Ayurvedic medicine about two years ago, and when I sat down with the specialist it became very clear that there was no way my body was going to make a baby,” Jules explained.
