Trump campaign reveals huge surge in donations since the hush money trial guilty verdicts as part of a $141 million fundraising haul in May
- The total includes $53 million raised online within 24 hours of the ruling
- A Manhattan jury found Trump guilty of 34 counts of falsifying financial records
Donald Trump has 141 million reasons not to be too down about the 34 cases in which a Manhattan jury has found him guilty.
His campaign announced a stunning $141 million fundraising effort for May, a month in which Trump spent most days of the week in court complaining about everything from the temperature in the courtroom to what he called a “rigged” trial.
The total includes $53 million raised online in the 24 hours after the former president was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying company records in the hush money trial.
That was a period when the Trump campaign repeatedly broadcast fundraisers, and supporters repeatedly clicked “donate” in condemnation of all charges of falsifying company data.
The total includes funds raised by the Republican National Committee, co-led by Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara, who accompanied him during the trial and regularly sent online fundraising appeals.
It comes from an extraordinary 2 million donations, a quarter of which come from new donors.
The overall impact on the public remains to be seen, although Trump did well in early polls, including DailyMail.com’s immediately after the verdict.
Former President Donald Trump collected $141 million in May while his criminal trial in New York was underway
Trump repeatedly complained about being stuck in a courtroom when he should have been campaigning, yet raking in millions while commuting home to Trump Tower. He regularly made statements attacking the case that were picked up by cable networks.
Trump Campaign senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles cheered the news and echoed their client’s attacks on the court.
“We are moved by the outpouring of support for President Donald J. Trump. “The American people saw through Crooked Joe Biden’s rigged trial and sent Biden and the Democrats a strong message: the REAL verdict will be delivered on November 5,” they said in a statement.
“President Trump raised $141 million this month as Americans remember the booming economy, secure borders and peace through strength at home and abroad under Donald J. Trump, and we will return to prosperity and success when he is re-elected in November, they added.

The May period included testimony from porn stars Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen in Trump’s criminal trial
The May fundraiser came amid a period in which former fixer Michael Cohen and porn star Stormy Daniels testified against him.
Daniels even revealed salacious details about a 2006 affair that Trump denies, providing material for what Trump’s lawyers say is grounds for an appeal.
The jury’s verdict came on May 30.
President Biden took ample advantage of Trump’s time in court to travel around the country to raise money.
He had $192 million in the bank after raising $51 million in April, behind Trump that month.
The Biden camp has not yet announced its own fundraising.
