Sophia Bush marks her first Pride Month since coming out and announcing her relationship with Ashlyn Harris: ‘It’s worth it’

Sophia Bush celebrated her first pride month since coming out as queer when she shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram on Sunday.

The actress, 41, posted a quote to her Stories that read: “You are perfect. No matter how long it takes, you will find your people. And they will help you find more and more of yourself. It’s worth it. You are worth it.’

The One Tree Hill star wrote the line under another reposted quote, from the account We the Urban, which read: “Pride is important because someone tonight still believes they are better off dead than themselves.”

She also shared a naked selfie in a bathrobe with the LGBTQ pride flag emoji and a heart sign.

Bush publicly came out of the closet in April, announcing that she was in love with athlete Ashlyn Harris, 38, and that her former partners always knew she loved women.

Pride Month kicked off Saturday and celebrates the LGBTQ community in honor of the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City.

Bush’s message comes a week after she firmly suppressed rumors that she is engaged to her girlfriend.

She posted a romantic photo with Ashlyn from Paris, tucking an arm under her ladylove’s jacket.

With her left hand hidden from view, some social media users began to speculate that she was hiding a ring.

However, Sophia put an end to the suspicion with a follow-up photo, holding up her left hand to assure the audience that her fourth finger was bare.

“I hear the internet is wild? All of you,” she wrote with crying laughter and coffin emojis. ‘I have no “news” for you. But wouldn’t you put your hands all over her jacket if you could? (To be clear, you can’t because of boundaries, but I’ll keep doing it for you because I’m just that generous.)

Posting the original loved-up Paris snap with Ashlyn, Sophia said: “I just want to pinch her.”

She added, “I understand that it is new for you to see me so happy and so embodied. It’s new to me too. How lucky I am,” the post concluded with a teary-eyed emoji.

Shortly before, Sophia had announced their relationship by writing an essay about it Glamour magazine in which she also came out as ‘queer’.

She wrote that she and Ashlyn first met in 2019, but didn’t become a couple until October 2023 – after their respective marriages fell apart.

Sophia filed for divorce from her husband Grant Hughes in August 2023, while Ashlyn filed for divorce from her wife Ali Krieger in September.

In her coming out essay, Sophia – who was previously married to her One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray – revealed that several men she dated in the past knew she was also attracted to women.

When romance rumors started circulating about her and Ashlyn, Sophia was accused of being a “homewrecker” since Ashlyn shares two children with her ex-wife.

Sophia revealed that she and Ashlyn became a couple in October 2023, two months after she filed for divorce from Grant Hughes, with whom she is pictured in 2022.

Sophia adamantly denied breaking up Ashlyn’s marriage, writing that she was on the business end of “blatant lies and violent threats” over the suspicion.

“People on the outside looking in didn’t know how much time it took, how many painful conversations were had,” she insisted.

“A lot of effort has gone into being graceful in dealing with other people, their time and commitments, and their feelings,” the Chicago PD actress added.

Along with Ashlyn and her husbands, Sophia has also previously dated her co-stars Jon Foster, James Lafferty, Austin Nichols and Jesse Lee Soffer.
