Jackie ‘O’ Henderson insists she has ‘not stomped over anyone’ to achieve her massive success – after claims she stole Ada Nicodemou’s Stranded on Honeymoon Island job

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has risen to the highest heights in the radio industry.

But the KIIS FM star, who reportedly earns $10 million a year thanks to the Kyle and Jackie O Show, says she got to where she is despite being an easy person to work with.

‘I have come this far on my own strength. “I’ve had a very successful career and I like to think that I haven’t persuaded anyone to come here and I’ve always come at it from a kinder, more empathetic place,” the 49-year-old tells the Share my mood podcast.

‘To reach the top you don’t have to be that cold and hard, really.’

Jackie added that she is proud of her career, adding, “I’m pretty happy with where I’ve gotten to.”

It comes after the star was forced to confront a report that she had ‘stole’ Ada Nicodemou’s job after her own mother asked her about the rumours.

Henderson admitted on Tuesday’s Kyle and Jackie O Show that mom Julie sent her an article from New Idea claiming Jackie had taken Ada’s job at Stranded on Romantic Islands and asked her if it was true.

“I’m completely unaware of that story,” Jackie claimed, adding, “I honestly don’t even know if they got that story right.”

Jackie admitted that Nicodemou had presented the show, for which Henderson will provide the voiceover, during Seven ‘Upfronts’ last year.

“And because she presented that she’s, I mean, a Seven personality, they assumed that she would then host that show or narrate that show.” Jackie said, insisting that wasn’t the case.

“I don’t think they got the story right at all,” the radio star insisted.

Co-host Kyle Sandilands, 52, agreed with Jackie, adding that Ada was “never in the running for [the job].’

It comes after Channel Seven’s decision to choose Henderson as narrator of new dating series Stranded on Romantic Islands sparked controversy.

The show, called ‘Married At First Sight on the beach’, was expected to be led by Home and Away star Ada Nicodemou, who introduced a first look at the program during Channel Seven’s 2024 content reveal last October.

According to this week New ideaindustry sources were surprised by the decision to choose Jackie for the role.

Ada, 47, gave an enthusiastic speech at the unveiling, which many believed was a sign of her commitment.

“If you’re bad at relationships and you can’t even get to the second date, let alone find the love of your life, what do you do?” Well, I have a show for you… Stranded on Romantic Island,” Ada said excitedly to the audience.

Having been a beloved member of the Seven family for more than 24 years, Ada seemed the logical choice for the gig.

“Many eyebrows have been raised by this appointment,” an insider told the publication.

‘While there is little doubt that Jackie is a perfect fit to narrate a show like this, there is a sense that Seven should have looked internally for someone who has been loyal to the network, such as a Home and Away star like Ada or Emily Weir. .’

Considering the network chose Jackie, especially after her last reality TV stint on Network 10’s The Masked Singer faced challenges, many are left confused.

A source close to the situation suggested the decision may have been driven by company strategy.

“It makes good business sense for Seven to hire Jackie for Romantic Island,” the source explained.

‘Seven bosses probably know that shows like MAFS get a lot of airtime on KIIS airwaves and were smart to bring Kyle in for Australian Idol where he could increase his involvement. Now they have Jackie to ensure that Romantic Island will hopefully be a ratings hit.’
