A fascinating map has revealed the world’s most popular summer destinations for 2024 – and London and Dubai are the world’s joint favorite places.
The country names on the map have been supplemented with the names of the places their residents would most like to visit. The most popular summer destinations for each country were identified through an analysis of Google search data and keywords related to summer travel, including searches in both English and each country’s native language.
London and Dubai each top the ten country bucket list. Norway, Iceland, Ireland and Spain are among the countries eyeing the British capital, while the residents of Pakistan, Qatar and Mauritius are all hoping for a summer holiday in Dubai.
The survey shows that Cancun is the most popular international destination for Americans and Las Vegas is the most sought-after domestic destination.
Miami is the second most popular summer destination worldwide and is the top choice for eight countries, including Guatemala, Panama and Peru.

In the research, via the technical website CloudwardBarcelona comes third with six countries ranking the Catalan capital first, including Portugal, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
Next up is Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires, which is favored by five countries, including neighboring Paraguay and Uruguay.
Tokyo and Toronto share voting rights, with the two cities tied for fifth place with four votes each. Toronto tops the list ahead of Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, while the Japanese capital ranks first in Thailand and Singapore.

Tied for third place are Malaga, Paris, Rome and Singapore, each of which ranks first in three countries.
Cancun, first ahead of both Canada and the US, and Lisbon, first ahead of Switzerland and France, are tied for seventh place with two votes each.
Other destinations making the rankings, each topping in just one country, include Athens, Bali, Cyprus, Florence, Hong Kong and Istanbul.

Residents of Kentucky, Colorado and Texas hope to vacation in Mexico’s coastal city. Meanwhile, those in New York, Tennessee and Florida all want a summer vacation across the pond.
Vancouver Island comes in second with a total of three votes from Alaska, Oregon and Washington.
Located on Canada’s Pacific coast, the summer destination offers “a mix of mountain landscapes, beaches along the Fraser River Delta and vibrant city life,” according to Cloudwards.
Tied for third place are Tokyo and Bermuda, each topping two states’ wish lists. Connecticut and New Hampshire place Bermuda first, while those in California and Hawaii want to go further afield.
The survey also shows that Americans enjoy international travel in the summer to Tulum, Singapore, Toronto, Machu Picchu, Florence and Istanbul. The vacation destinations each rank first in one state.

First-place Las Vegas wins by a landslide of 14 votes, with Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Idaho, Minnesota and Hawaii all putting the “neon city” in first place.

Boston and Chicago share second place, with votes from five states each. Chicago ranks first in Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin and Indiana, while Boston tops in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.
In third place is Denver, which tops four states, including Nebraska and South Dakota.
Florida’s coastal destinations Panama City Beach and Miami ranked fourth and each ranked first in three states. Panama City Beach tops for residents of Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia, while Miami tops for New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts.
Seattle, Memphis, Washington DC and Myrtle Beach tied for fifth place, each ranking as the top summer destination for two states.
Other ranked cities, with one vote each, include Philadelphia, Baltimore, Nashville, Houston, San Diego, Minneapolis, Dallas, Charlotte and Portland.
