The Samsung Galaxy S23 could appear in these four color options
>
Now that the Google Pixel 7 launch has been successfully navigated, the next flagship phone on the horizon is the Samsung Galaxy S23 – and the latest update to the rumor mill gives us an idea of the color options we’re about to see.
According to analyst Ross Young (opens in new tab)who is usually right when it comes to mobile industry predictions, we are going to get the phone in beige, black, green and light pink in the first few months of 2023.
That’s a somewhat limited selection compared to the Samsung Galaxy S22, which appeared across the range – the S22, the S22 Plus and the S22 Ultra – in white, black, rose gold, green, graphite, blue, violet, cream, burgundy, red and finally purple.
color calls
It’s also interesting to compare the color selection with the options for the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable phones: the former is available in green, black, beige and burgundy, and the latter in purple, graphite, pink. gold, blue, yellow, white, navy, khaki and red.
Perhaps more will come in terms of colors, or perhaps Young is just referring to the standard S22 model – in which case pale pink would replace rose gold, beige would replace white and the purple option would be dropped.
These colors may also eventually vary depending on the region you are in. All signs point to a February launch for the Galaxy S23 series, following the Galaxy S22 series’ schedule, so we have a few more months to wait before we know for sure what Samsung has been working on.
Analysis: colors really matter
The colors a phone comes in may not immediately seem like the most important aesthetic choice compared to the rest of the design – and even less important when you consider the internal specs of a particular device.
It’s also fair to say that colors aren’t always the most exciting aspect of a phone to talk about. White and black are almost always present, and furthermore manufacturers seem reluctant to experiment too much with the different shades on offer.
However, color choices can make a big difference to consumers and a phone’s appeal. It seems phone makers are starting to realize this – take the green iPhone 13, for example, that Apple unveiled earlier this year.
The Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro also showcase some bold color choices, and we’d love to see more of them in the future. I hope Samsung has some additional colors for the Galaxy S23, in addition to the colors we have mentioned here.
