Joe Biden pays tribute to brave Chiefs stars for their heroics during tragic mass shooting at Super Bowl parade in Kansas City

During the festivities for the Kansas City Chiefs at the White House, President Biden also took time to remember how the team helped others during the tragic mass shooting during their Super Bowl parade.

One woman was killed and 22 people were injured in the shooting, which sent people fleeing the city’s Union Station shortly after the festivities ended.

Biden commemorated the life of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, who died in the shooting, while honoring the Chiefs for their actions to help others.

“We saw pride, giving way to tragedy,” Biden said Friday. “A beloved mother, a local DJ, was shot. Dozens were injured.

“Amid the chaos, this team showed up again.”

“Trei [Smith] helped get people to safety,” Biden continued. “James, who lost his own father to gun violence and assured children that everything would be okay.

“One teenager remembers Coach Reid giving him a hug and telling him, ‘just breathe, just breathe.’

‘One boy was separated from his father, Clyde helped save him from harm. Clyde is exceptional. This team is exceptional.”

Although it wasn’t mentioned during Biden’s speech, the team did more than just help people during the shooting — they helped afterward, too.

Star tight end Travis Kelce donated $100,000 to two children injured in the shooting, while his quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, donated $50,000 to the local United Way fund.

Even Harrison Butker, the team’s kicker who was in the news for a controversial speech he gave, donated a jersey to Lopez-Galvan’s family so they could wear it at the funeral.

Two adults and two juveniles have been charged in connection with the shooting. The adults have been charged with murder.
