Brittany Higgins wedding: David Sharaz breaks his silence on the day of his wedding to the former Liberal staffer as he compares their love story to a romantic comedy

David Sharaz has broken his silence on his wedding to Brittany Higgins, revealing their first texts together and comparing their love story to a romantic comedy.

The couple will tie the knot at luxury Gold Coast venue The Valley Estate on Saturday afternoon – some 18 months after his sunset proposal, and four years after they first met in Canberra.

On the morning of the big day, Mr Sharaz – undeterred by the gray skies and threatening rain circling the Currumbin Valley – excitedly took to Instagram to post his first ever text interaction with his future wife.

Commenting on a photo of Ms Higgins near the famous ‘budget tree’ in the courtyard of Parliament House in Canberra, where she worked as a Liberal staffer, he wrote: ‘I love this photo. But especially the tree.’

Ms Higgins replied with an emoji on her face: ‘Rude but totally justified hahah.’

He wrote: ‘To be honest. I went to show a friend what you looked like and accidentally sent it to you. Good night.’

She said, ‘Hahahahah, that’s great.’

In the caption of the post, Mr Sharaz wrote: ‘Accidentally sent a girl I had a crush on… a photo of herself.’

‘A few years later and we’re getting married! Rom-coms exist.’
