Taylor Momsen is bitten by a BAT and has to be treated for rabies while opening for AC/DC with her band The Pretty Reckless in Spain

Taylor Momsen was bitten by a bat on Wednesday while performing on stage with her band The Pretty Reckless in Spain.

The 30-year-old Gossip Girl star’s group was opening for AC/DC at Seville’s La Cartuja Stadium when a bat landed on her left thigh and bit her after she finished a song titled Witches Burn.

However, the performer was initially unaware that she had been bitten and briefly ignored calls from onlookers trying to draw attention to the animal before noticing the bat on her leg.

Momsen, who shared a video of the incident on her Instagram and TikTok accounts, was then assisted by a stagehand, who removed the animal from her thigh before continuing her performance.

The How the Grinch Stole Christmas actress was later transported to a hospital, where she was treated for the bite.

‘So…ROCK AND ROLL MOMENT…in Seville Wednesday during Witches Burn of all songs…a BAT flew at me and clung to my leg…at the moment I was performing and I didn’t have idea until the incredible audience kept shouting and pointing.”

β€œHe was cute, but yeah, he bit me… so rabies shots for the next two weeks. thanks to all the staff at the hospital who called me #batgirl after seeing it on the local news that morning…more footage to come…that’s one for the books!!!!’

According to the Center for Disease Control, rabies is typically spread by bites or scratches from various animals, including bats, skunks and dogs.

Rabies can be fatal if not treated after exposure, and four to five doses of a vaccine, as well as a dose of human rabies immunoglobulin, should be given as soon as possible after a human comes into contact with the virus.

Contact with bats infected with the virus has become the most common cause of rabies deaths in humans in the United States.

Momsen has been the frontwoman of The Pretty Reckless since the band’s founding in 2009.

The group’s debut album, titled Light Me Up, was released in 2010 and peaked at number 10 on Billboard’s US Top Alternative Albums chart.
