What should you spend legendary shards on in Destiny 2 before they disappear?

Legendary Shards disappear into it Destiny 2: The Final Form. If you are or have played an experienced player Lot 2 for a significant amount of time, you’ll likely have a fairly large stockpile of Shards that you’ll need to remove before June 3, when the servers go down to prepare for the new expansion.

In this Lot 2 guide, I’ll help you figure out what to spend your legendary shards on before Bungie removes them from your inventory.

What can you spend legendary shards on? Lot 2 before they leave

If you’re like me, after seven years of hoarding you’ll have a bunch of legendary shards to get rid of. If you just wait until June 4, Bungie will remove them all for you, which is handy. But if you want something more useful after all your time grinding, you can trade them in for a few different items in-game.

Most players take their excess legendary shards and use them to buy Fragments of fantasy at the Lectern of Enchantment on the Moon for 10 legendary shards each. With Rahool, the Cryptarch in the Tower, you can exchange 10 Phantasmal Fragments for 10,000 Glimmer. While Bungie could take away this exchange, it’s better than nothing, and a solid way to turn your legendary shards into a potential Glimmer.

If you’re a raider, buying is another option Raid banners of Hawthorn in the Tower. You can buy 10 Raid Banners for 30 Legendary Shards.

The best Legendary Shard exchange is unfortunately completely dependent on RNG. On rare occasions, Banshee-44 sells a weapon with a Masterpiece level of five (you have to buy every weapon to find the masterpiece level). If you buy a Masterwork Five weapon over and over again, you get a Improvement core from each copy you dismantle. You can also do this if the Masterwork level is four, but the Enhancement Core is not guaranteed.

Enhancement cores are very useful for upgrading gear, and obtaining them is a lot harder than replenishing your Glimmer. Keep an eye on Banshee’s inventory this weekend and see if you get lucky.

What replaces legendary shards in Lot 2‘s economy?

Legendary Shards have been the collectible currency Lot 2next Shine. With Shards disappearing, Glimmer will become the only general currency, and you’ll just need to link special currencies – like Ascendant Shards – to it to buy the things you want.

The catch is that Glimmer has a limit of 500,000, so you can’t keep it in stock indefinitely like you would with Legendary Shards. That’s why it’s so useful to exchange Phantasmal Fragments or old Planetary Materials for Glimmer.
