Horsley Drive, Wetherill Park crash: Teenage girl dies – three others rushed to hospital

A teenage girl has died and four others were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a car crashed into a tree overnight.

Emergency services rushed to Horsley Drive in Wetherill Park in Sydney’s west just after 11pm on Thursday evening.

The 18-year-old girl behind the wheel was killed in the collision.

It’s clear she had a provisional permit.

Another woman in her teens and a man in his 20s were rushed to Westmead Hospital with multiple injuries.

A third passenger was taken to Liverpool hospital.

Fairfield Police are investigating the incident and have asked anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.

It comes after three members of one family were killed in a horror crash between a car and a tanker near Brisbane on Thursday morning.

Steven Wheeler, 54, and his parents Bob Wheeler, 84, and Magret, 81, were all pronounced dead at the scene following the collision around 5.45am.

The male driver of the semi-trailer, 52, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Kingaroy Hospital by paramedics in a stable condition.

Two close friends were killed on Tuesday evening after a suspended driver crashed their motorcycle in Greenacre, in Sydney’s west.

William Brown, 26, and his passenger Doey Choi, 24, were thrown several meters after a Toyota Corolla made a turn at a busy intersection around 7 p.m.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, both Brown and Choi died at the scene while the driver was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

In two weeks, more than a dozen people had died on NSW roads.
