Bride and groom spark outrage over their VERY strict dress code on the wedding invitation: ‘Aggressive’

An engaged couple has caused a stir after sending out wedding invitations with an ‘aggressive’ dress code request.

Guests were asked to wear ‘black cocktail attire’ and ensure they wore no signs of any color or white.

The bride and groom outlined the dress code on the invitation and in the subsequent question and answer portion. They also asked guests to confirm that they saw the request in the digital RSVP.

The tactic was quickly labeled “aggressive” and “unnecessary” by dozens of people after images of the invitation were posted to a popular Facebook group.

‘We would love it if our friends and family dressed up with us. We require black cocktail attire for our wedding. ONLY WEAR BLACK COLORED CLOTHES!’ the couple said.

The bride and groom outlined the dress code in the invitation and Q&A section and also made it a requirement when guests complete the digital RSVP

‘Please avoid clothing, including white, reserved for the bride and groom. In addition to black, do not wear jeans, shorts or sportswear.’

“Men please wear closed-toed shoes during the ceremony and reception.”

The RSVP also included a box for guests to check confirming that black would be worn.

The first option was: ‘I’m wearing all black! No white undershirts for men, no white or colored details for women, only black clothing.’

The second option was: ‘I’m insecure about my outfit. I don’t want to stand out and would like to ask more questions about what I plan to wear.’

Many shared their thoughts on the strict request, with many comparing the all-black dress code to that worn at funerals.

“I bet this is a summer wedding outside, in a shed with a tent next to it. No thanks,” one person wrote.

‘No. That’s way too specific. No accent colors at all? And they are SO ADAMANT! I love black clothes but take your aggressive goth demands elsewhere,” said another.

A third added: ‘A few people wearing a little black dress to a wedding is fine but if everyone does it I definitely think of a funeral when I see it.’

“I understand there is a dress code, but if the wedding is so about you that it makes it difficult or uncomfortable for your guests, it ruins the whole point of the party with them, and they become members of your show. ‘

“I don’t buy a new outfit for a wedding unless I’m at a dang wedding,” said another.

One admitted he would refuse unless there was a guarantee of free alcohol.
