Tragic final hug: Seven-months-pregnant woman embraces ‘love-rival’ Brit after discovering they had been dating the same man and meeting up… before cheating boyfriend stabbed the mum-to-be to death in the bath

An Italian man who discovered his heavily pregnant girlfriend had met up with his secret British mistress told a court in Milan on Monday how he stabbed his partner 37 times while she was in the bath.

Bartender Alessandro Impagnetiello, 31, confessed to the brutal murder of his 29-year-old girlfriend Giulia Tramontano – who was seven months pregnant – after meeting his undercover lover last year.

This second lover, a British-Italian waitress, contacted Giulia after learning about Impagnetiello’s affair.

The jaded women met on May 27, 2023 to swap stories about what the Briton described to police as the bartender’s “psychological abuse”, and moving CCTV footage captured the moment the pair shared a heartfelt embrace as they left the meeting left.

But Impagnetiello showed up to his pregnant girlfriend just hours later, storming into the bathroom and viciously slashing her with a knife while she was bathing.

Prosecutors say Impagnetiello decided to kill Giulia when she was approached by the 23-year-old Briton who also saw him and discovered he already had a pregnant girlfriend.

The waitress, who was not named in the lawsuit, contacted Giulia after learning of Impagnatiello’s double life and the two confided in each other about his abusive behavior.

Even after discovering that Impagnatiello was cheating on her, it is believed that Giulia had decided to continue living with him “as long as necessary” for the sake of their unborn child.

But just hours after returning from meeting Impagnetiello’s mistress, she was killed in the frenzied knife attack by the father of her unborn child.

In a stunning confession, the killer told a court in Milan on Monday: ‘I killed Giulia Tramontano, but I don’t know why. The number of stab wounds will always haunt me.

‘The person I was then is not the person I am now.

‘This test helps me sort out my scattered thoughts and confusing pieces.

‘Now I can reveal the real truth. I had created a web of lies in which I was drowning.”

Impagnetiello went on to explain how, after killing his girlfriend, he watched a football match on his phone before putting Giulia’s corpse in the boot of his car.

Then he drove to his mother’s for lunch.

“I was having lunch at my mother’s house with the body in the car,” he admitted in court.

The court previously heard how Impagnetiello broke down under police questioning and led officers to where he had hidden her body.

After carrying out the brutal attack, he burned her body in a bath before hiding the remains in a garage and then a cellar.

A day later he reported her missing to the police.

Then, in an attempt to throw investigators off their trail, he burned several of Giulia’s personal belongings, threw away her ID and passport, and sent text messages to her phone asking where she was and begging her to come back.

He tried to claim that Giulia had left him after discovering his secret relationship and that he was concerned about her disappearance.

But the bartender was unable to continue the ruse and eventually confessed to investigators days after he committed the murder.

It later emerged that Impagnatiello’s British lover became suspicious and alerted police after receiving unusual messages from Giulia’s phone.

“She wrote messages in a different way than before,” the waitress told police, according to Italian news service ANSA.

It was then revealed that Impagnetiello had sent the suspicious messages from Giulia’s phone to his British lover after stabbing her to death.

Police also say the bartender had been feeding Giulia rat poison for months leading up to her eventual murder, hoping to induce a miscarriage after she told him she was pregnant.

Investigators found that Impagnetiello had conducted online searches for “ammonia fetus,” “rat poison” and “how much rat poison does it take to kill someone” when they searched his phone and devices.

He had also bought chloroform under an assumed name, and Giulia complained of feeling ‘drugged’ to friends and family, the court heard.

Impagnetiello admitted to voluntary aggravated murder, concealment of a body and non-consensual abortion, local media reported.

The lawsuit continues.
