Awkward moment high school sports announcer is caught on hot mic making sexual comments about soccer moms while Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’ plays in the background
A high school sportscaster has sparked backlash after he was caught on a hot microphone making salacious jokes about suicide and soccer moms.
Toby Moore, an expert with the NFHS Network, made the comments while covering a high school game in Kansas between two female soccer teams and accidentally left his microphone on at halftime.
I spoke to an assistant in the room, he started a five minute tirade saying he wanted to jump out of the press box because the students were playing so poorly.
The conversation continued from there as he and the other person, who has not been identified, agreed that the “bonus of calling high school football” was to leer at “soccer moms.”
“F*** yeah baby – up top baby,” the men said as Brittany Spears’ hit “Toxic” played in the background.
Unaware that their conversation was being broadcast to the public, they pointed out to a woman in the crowd that they could “feel her from here.”
At a recent high school football game in Kansas, a commentator made an awkward blunder when he made a number of lewd jokes about suicide and soccer moms while thinking his microphone was turned off.
In footage first shared by Terrible announcementMoore began his unfortunate episode by criticizing the high schoolers’ performance in the first half.
‘Oh dear. God, was that first half as ugly as I thought?’ he said, appearing irritated because he felt the need to refrain from criticizing the players on air.
“That game that had no flow whatsoever,” Moore continued. “It’s a high school game and you can’t say, ‘What the hell was that?’
After the other person indicated he could mention the players’ skills, Moore said he would only do so in public during college games.
‘Actions have consequences. It’s my policy. It is beneath my dignity to criticize high school students. “I’ll try to be subtle, but I just want to say, this game is great,” he said.
Moore noted that the low-level play caused his mind to “turn on the ‘kill me now’ switch” after about 30 minutes, adding: “I just want to score a header from the top of the press box.”
‘Unfortunately it’s too low, it wouldn’t kill me… It’s like they’re not even trying to get past it. They just throw the ball into the field. A little technology would be nice. What on earth are they teaching these children in practice? It’s unbelievable.’
After condemning the high schoolers’ abilities, Moore proceeded to have a lewd back-and-forth with the other person about being distracted by soccer moms during games.
Commentator Toby Moore (pictured) apologized after the clip of his hot mic episode went viral, saying he regretted his ‘tasteless’ and ‘unforgivable’ comments
At one point, Moore went from criticizing the high school girls’ performance to making crude jokes about “soccer moms” in the audience
“A bonus if you mention high school football? Girls’ football? For high school? The soccer moms,” he said.
While the other person seemingly agreed, he chose one woman from the crowd.
“F*** yeah baby – at the top, baby,” he said. “The one standing in front of us? See if she can pull the hell off… I can’t see the legs, but I can feel the impact from here.”
“She has nice curves,” the other person added. “Their ages are nice here too.”
Ironically, Moore concluded their conversation by saying that they would “get in trouble” if anyone heard their comments.
“By the way, this conversation never happened,” Moore said. ‘We would get into trouble. I would never have had this conversation if… I had been sitting in that chair. We’ve been around long enough, we know what we’re doing.
“Okay, okay, I think we got it all out of our system. We can put the mic live again and let it rip.”
The footage of the conversation was initially captured by a parent, who then sent it to Awful Announcing, the outlet claimed.
Moore acknowledged that he was the expert in the clip and released a statement to the outlet apologizing for his “tasteless” comments.
“I would like to apologize to the schools, players, coaches, families and communities of Rose Hill and McPherson for my comments last Saturday,” Moore said.
‘They were tasteless, stupid and unforgivable. These comments did not reflect the great season and hard work both sides had throughout the year. Thanks to KSHSAA and NFHS for the privilege of having me call games on their network.
“I sincerely and deeply apologize for my tasteless and hurtful comments and ask forgiveness from those who were hurt by my words.”
It is not clear whether Moore was punished for the episode. DailyMail.com contacted the NFHS Network for comment.
