Hume Highway madness: Violent fight breaks out on busy Sydney road

A violent fight broke out on one of Sydney’s busiest highways on Wednesday morning, with two men throwing brutal punches and kicks as they dodged traffic.

A truck driver filmed the brawl on the Hume Highway near Bass Hill and sent it to 2GB’s Ray Hadley, who was unimpressed by the men’s disturbing behavior and called it ‘madness’.

Hadley described the road rage incident as “two guys pulling the piss out of the middle of traffic.”

“The two idiots jump out of their respective vehicles and get smashed across six lanes, three lanes on one side and three lanes on the other.

“And there are cars making a right turn, they stop because (the men) throw punches between the vehicles.”

A shockingly violent fight broke out on one of Sydney’s busiest highways on Wednesday morning, with two men throwing brutal punches and kicks as they dodged traffic.

As cars screamed due to the dangerous and highly volatile situation, people tried to stop the fight.

“One guy in particular steps in, brave guy that, in a hi-vis, he’s clearly a tradie,” Hadley said.

“He gets out of wherever he is, comes to them and tries to separate them.”

Hadley, like many viewers of the clip, initially thought one of the men fighting was a woman because of his long ponytail.

The fight spilled over the median and across opposing lanes of traffic, with one of the fighters’ pants falling down at one point, exposing his bare buttocks.

But between punches he took the opportunity to put on his sweatpants and continue fighting, all the while blocking and disrupting traffic.

After the Peacemaker had some success in breaking up the fight and getting the ponytailed man back into his van, it all started again.

He returned to the van twice and got out twice for more, before the fight finally ended and the men went their separate ways.
