Beamtree signs $2 million AI deal to improve clinical data at private Saudi hospitals

ASX-listed health data analytics company Beamtree has signed a contract to supply its AI technology to improve clinical coding at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Service Group (HMG).

The A$3.6 million ($2.4 million) contract includes the deployment of Beamtree’s PICQ, which automates the audit of clinical record classification, and RippleDown, which helpsps assess opportunities for clinical coding automation.

WHY IT MATTERS

In a company release shared by Beamtree, Faisal Al Nassar, CEO and president of HMG, emphasized that data quality is a “critical priority” for their group. The private healthcare group operates more than 25 medical locations in the Gulf region with more than 2,000 beds and 17,000 employees.

The use of data analytics is intended to support HMG in determining the human workforce and technological resource needs for hospital coding activities in the future.

THE BIG TREND

“This is an important milestone for Beamtree as we expand our work in the Kingdom into the private sector,” said CEO Tim Kelsey.

The HMG contract marks Beamtree’s foray into Saudi Arabia’s private healthcare sector after introducing its clinical coding technologies into the kingdom’s public healthcare system.

It has helped the Center for National Health Insurance monitor data quality of public hospitals. It was also involved in the development of the kingdom’s health information strategy.

Beamtree also boarded a local commercial deal with Lean Business Services to create and promote integrated clinical coding solutions for healthcare services locally and globally.

Meanwhile, Beamtree was recently commissioned to create a data analytics platform for the Health Roundtable network for hospitals and healthcare facilities in Australia and New Zealand.
