She is known to be loved for her role as Irene Roberts in Channel Seven’s long-running soap Home and Away.
And now Lynne McGranger, 71, has hinted at a possible departure after an impressive 31-year run.
In a candid interview with Stellar magazine this week, the actress opened up about her hopes for the future.
“It’s something I’ve thought about, and it’s been in the back of my mind for the last two years,” Lynne said of leaving the show.
The actress suggested that while no official date has been set for her departure, the idea of leaving Summer Bay has been an important consideration

Currently, Lynne is delving into a new venture, The Grandparents Club, which she describes as a delightful return to her theatrical roots.
‘There is certainly no date set [to leave]but what I love about working for The Grandparents Club and being involved in this wonderful celebration is that it brings me back to my roots,” she shared.
The actress emphasized the collaborative nature of her current project, contrasting this with more rigid theatrical works.

The veteran soap star suffered abrasions on her nose, right cheek and chin after a nasty fall.

“Damn, that looks pretty badass! I hope you’re doing well, Lynne,” added fellow Summer Bay veteran Ethan Browne.
Other prominent figures contributed with their own well wishes.
“Oh take care of yourself x,” TV presenter Myf Warhurst interjected, while My Kitchen Rules star Blake Proud wrote: “OMG. We hope you are doing well!’
Meanwhile, her son-in-law’s mother was quick to dispel any misbehavior.
“And I promise I didn’t trip her or push her. Poor love, it wasn’t a good sight,” she wrote.

Lynne has played Irene Roberts on Home and Away since 1993, after taking over the role from actress Jacquy Phillips.
The veteran actress is one of Australian soap’s longest-serving stars.
In 2021, Lynne published a memoir Acting Up: Me, Myself And Irene in which she revealed her struggles with drugs and an eating disorder.
