Nick Kyrgios will be part of the BBC’s coverage of Wimbledon during the tournament this summer.

The 29-year-old has played just one competitive match in the past two years due to knee and wrist injuries, but impressed in the commentary box at the Australian Open in January.

Kyrgios has indicated that his recovery is going well and that he will soon be back on the court with ‘fire in his belly’, but according to The Sun he will give his insight from the sidelines this year.

The Australian worked on Eurosport at Melbourne Park this year but is expected to appear on the BBC with the likes of Claire Balding, John McEnroe and Tim Henman.

Kyrgios has explored his options for life after tennis, with pundits suggesting an obvious path for this maverick talent. He also hinted at a possible sporting switch, which could shock fans.

A fan asked the former world number 13 if he wanted to do a boxing fight and Kyrgios replied that he was very interested in the idea.

“Yes, I would, at the end of my tennis career,” Kyrgios said.

“There are a few people I would call.”

A fan then asked him if he wanted to take on broadcaster Piers Morgan, who he has clashed with in the past.

“No, we’re friends now!” said the Australian.

Kyrgios’ divisive antics would make any boxing match with him a real money spinner for promoters. One person he might want to call on is former arch-rival Bernard Tomic, who challenged him to a boxing match in 2022.

Tomic said he wanted to settle the long-running grudge between the couple with a tennis match – either on the basketball court or in a boxing ring.

“First and foremost, let’s set the record straight,” Tomic said in a video.
