Wedding bells for Cody Simpson and Emma McKeon as his plans to get down on one knee after the Paris Olympics are revealed

Cody Simpson is ready to take the next step in his blossoming relationship with Emma McKeon.

The 27-year-old singer and swimmer would like to go for gold at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, but is also planning to propose to his girlfriend, the champion.

According to reports, Simpson has set his sights on proposing to McKeon in the City of Love.

“What better place than Paris to get down on your knees and propose?” a source told New Idea magazine.

“He is already secretly thinking of ways to hide the ring from her, especially when they are together in the Olympic Athletes Village!”

The source added that Simpson will likely pop the question “on the banks of the Seine once the competition is over.”

Simpson is hoping to qualify for a place on the Australian swimming team, while McKeon, 29, is an eight-time world record holder and one of Australia’s most decorated Olympians.

She has no fewer than 11 Olympic medals from her career.

Last month, Simpson made a stunning admission about his future with McKeon, explaining that he and his superstar girlfriend will be entering uncharted territory after the 2024 Olympics in July.

The couple’s lives are about to have a major shake-up after the Paris Games, with McKeon revealing the event will be her last Olympiad.

Simpson is currently in a dogfight to make the Australian team and has not yet decided whether he will retire from swimming and return to his music career after the event.

However, he has hinted he could leave the sport, calling the Olympics a “fairytale ending” to his journey.

He also answered what his relationship with McKeon will look like next.

“I deliberately put a brick wall on either side of it, in the sense that I will do something about it when the time comes,” he told News Corp.

‘But never in my life have I not known what’s next.

‘Emma never had a life without swimming. I know what it’s like, but she’s never had it, so I’m glad she’s exploring her other interests and having the time to do so, because she never had it as a child.

“I’m fortunate to be someone who has a lot of things to look forward to, and another passion and career that I can pursue again depending on what I decide from the pool.

“I don’t know yet what I’m going to do, but I’ll make that decision later this year.”

But whatever happens, Simpson remains zen about his chances and insists he will go home happy even if he fails to make it to the Paris Olympics.

“In a sense, I really can’t fail, because I either succeed or fail to make the Olympic team this year,” Simpson said in a puzzling statement.

‘A fairytale ending would be nice, but it will happen or it won’t happen and that is the reality.

“There’s not much I can control other than giving it my all. So if that’s not enough in the day, that’s not enough in the day.

“But regardless, I really gave it everything I could to see what I can do in this sport and I’ve had a lot of success along the way.”

Before pausing his music career, Simpson had recorded four albums and played the lead role of Dmitry in the Broadway musical Anastasia.

Simpson and McKeon became “Instagram official” with their relationship in July 2022, three months after they began secretly dating.

Last year the couple celebrated this by buying their first house together.

The pair spent $1.826 million on a love nest for families on the Gold Coast, proving their headline-making romance, which blossomed while training for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, has gotten pretty serious.

In November, Simpson’s family hinted that wedding bells could be on the cards for the pop star and his golden girl.

It seems like it’s only a matter of time before the couple takes the plunge into marriage, if proud mom Angie and his sister Alli have anything to do with it.

Speaking to Ny Breaking Australia, Alli and Angie said they are hoping for a future engagement and that they love the Olympic swimmer.

‘We love Emma. The three of us went to the movies the other day and when Cody was at work we were like, ‘We’re stealing Emma,'” Alli said.

‘She just shines and she makes Cody very happy. It’s the most peaceful I’ve seen Cody.”
