Westfield Fountain Gate stabbing: Woman allegedly knifed while waiting for a bus in Narre Warren, Melbourne

A woman was allegedly stabbed by a man near a bus stop outside a shopping center in Westfield in Melbourne’s south-east.

The 35-year-old woman was waiting at a bus stop on Overland Drive outside Westfield Fountain Gate in Narre Warren when she was attacked about 5.20pm on Sunday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene where paramedics treated the woman before taking her to Alfred Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It is understood the woman’s condition is serious but stable.

The police searched the area outside the center and initially did not find the suspected perpetrator.

A 34-year-old man from Croydon was arrested in the neighboring suburb of Hallam shortly after the alleged stabbing.

Police have charged the man with malicious wounding, possession of a controlled weapon and theft.

He will appear in the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
