First images emerge of Scottie Scheffler in jail as other inmates reveal how world No. 1 golfer behaved during his shock visit to the cells

The first photos of Scottie Scheffler in jail have emerged following his shocking arrest on Friday morning.

While trying to make his tee time in Valhalla for the second round of the PGA Championship, the world No. 1 was arrested after a misunderstanding with officers.

Later in the day, photos of Scheffler at the facility were obtained by TMZ.

A fellow inmate appeared to surreptitiously take a selfie with the PGA Tour star while he spoke to officers.

TMZ also asked a person held with Scheffler about his behavior while in custody, to which he responded, “He kept saying it was bullshit that he was there.”

Staffers and officers were also reportedly impressed with the golfer. According to TMZ’s source, prison staff and corrections officials got a glimpse of Scheffler behind bars.

After an unexpected start to his morning, Scheffler was able to get out and make his 10:08 a.m. start time. Scheffler birdied the first hole and shot a 5-under 66 at the championship.

It was revealed that a fatal accident involving a pedestrian occurred outside the club at 5:09 am. Due to the heavy traffic caused by the accident, Scheffler became involved in a misunderstanding, which resulted in him dragging an officer with his vehicle.

After his release, Scheffler described the incident on his Instagram story.

“This morning I acted as the police officers instructed,” he wrote. ‘It was a very chaotic situation, understandable given the tragic accident that had previously occurred, and there was a major misunderstanding about what I thought was being asked of me.

‘It was never my intention to disobey any of the instructions. I’m hopeful that I can put this aside and focus on golf today.”

Scheffler was charged with second-degree assault on a police officer, criminal mischief, reckless driving and ignoring signals from an officer directing traffic.

However, prosecutors in Kentucky are expected to drop the charges.
