Dramatic moment Payne Haas’ father is arrested as he faces the death penalty in Indonesia over alleged drug plot
Dramatic footage has captured the moment the father of Brisbane Broncos star Payne Haas was arrested for alleged drug dealing.
Gregor Johann Haas, 46, was arrested by police on Wednesday in Cebu City, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.
Authorities are now seeking to extradite him to Indonesia, where he faces life imprisonment or a firing squad under the country’s strict drug laws.
Now footage has emerged of Haas’ dramatic arrest, which saw at least three police officers surround a car and demand he ‘get out’.
In the video, obtained by 7NewsHare was pinned to the ground, where his hands were cuffed behind his back.

He was taken to the capital Manila and remains under guard at an immigration center while authorities try to extradite him to Jakarta, where he faces charges.
National Narcotics Agency spokesman Sulistyo Pudjo Hartono said they have been trying to track down Haas since 5kg of methamphetamine was allegedly found at an undisclosed location in December.
“We have a good working relationship with the Australian police, so we will work with them as well,” he added.
A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade told AAP it was providing consular assistance to an Australian man arrested in the Philippines.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers said he opposed the death penalty and said he would speak to the Prime Minister and Attorney General about the matter.
Daily Mail Australia is not suggesting anyone else in the Haas family is involved.
Payne’s mother, Joan Taufua, is in custody charged with manslaughter after a car she was riding in killed three people in 2022.
Payne has been caring for his two younger brothers ever since. The Broncos have rallied behind Payne after the latest family incident. Brisbane coach Kevin Walters says the club supports Haas “in every way possible”.

‘Payne is a very strong individual and so is his family. A lot of people probably don’t understand or realize who Payne is,” Walters said.
“He’s a great guy, a great family man and at this time he’s going through, we’ll try to get around him in any way we can to support him and his family. That’s all we can do.
“Payne is just such a wonderful person of integrity … and what he does with his family, even before this incident, is something that we should have great respect for.”
Payne left the field in the 60th minute of the Bronco’s one-point win over Manly on Friday night with a lower leg injury before returning to the field 14 minutes later to finish the match.
