A mother has been left deeply troubled after hearing a ‘creepy man’s voice’ through her baby monitor.
The mother shared her concerns in a panicked post on Facebook and issued a stern warning to all parents who use a monitor connected to Wi-Fi.
“We heard a scary man’s voice talking to our baby over our baby monitor. My heart sank and I felt sick to my stomach,” she wrote.
“When I was researching baby monitors, I knew hacking was possible, but I didn’t know it would happen to us!!”

The woman said she decided to voice her concerns on social media for two reasons.
First, she wanted to make sure all other moms know that WiFi baby monitors can be hacked.
‘Make sure you strengthen your password, enable 2FA (two-factor authentication), and have a Wi-Fi password. Or if you are a mother-to-be or considering buying a WiFi monitor, please reconsider!’ the woman wrote.
According to baby stuff suppliesalmost any baby monitor can be hacked, but the type of monitor used can determine how difficult or easy it is to do so.
For example, a WiFi baby monitor without a password is much easier to hack compared to a baby monitor with a strong password and two-factor authentication.

The woman then asked for help and said, ‘I feel so anxious and can hardly sleep when I think about it. How can I overcome it?’
Others from the Facebook community offered their support to the stressed-out mother.
Omg this is my biggest fear. That’s why (maybe I’m being paranoid) I didn’t point the camera at the baby – it’s under the bed and I just keep the sound on like I used to,” one woman commented.
Baby Gear says monitors are less at risk if parents make sure their Wi-Fi network is secure and “limit the broadcasting of video outside your own private network as much as possible.”
