An airline employee was injured after falling on the runway after disembarking from a plane after the steps had been removed.

Video shared on social media shows the moment ground crew fell from a TransNusa Airbus A320 at Jakarta airport, Indonesia, as the flight crew prepared for takeoff.

The employee reportedly greeted the crew for a safe flight while ground crews removed the mobile stairs from the plane, reports said.

Seemingly unaware that the steps had been moved, the officer, still talking to the crew, walked out of the plane and fell straight onto the tarmac.

The worker received immediate medical treatment and suffered no life-threatening injuries, the source said AirLive.net.

The ground staffer fell from the plane’s L1 door after the ladder was abruptly removed without proper coordination, sources claim.

It is estimated that he fell to the tarmac a few meters from the plane.

The incident is believed to have violated aviation regulations, which reportedly state that workers are not allowed to remove a ladder while the plane’s door is still open.

Jakarta Airport authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and have “ensured measures” to prevent future accidents. Luchtvaart24.be reported.

Launched in August 2005, TransNusa Airlines is headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The airline briefly ceased operations in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was subsequently sold to China Aircraft Leasing Group and relaunched in 2022.
