Cannes Film Festival: Naomi Campbell, 53, stuns in sparkly black dress as she commands the red carpet at the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga premiere

While the Cannes Film Festival spotlights the year’s biggest films, it also attracts the industry’s most glamorous supermodels.

And Naomi Campbell, 53, certainly turned heads when she hit the red carpet at the premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga on Wednesday.

The supermodel put on a display of age as she attended the star-studded event in a sparkling black dress.

She showed off her sensational physique in the garment as the skirt featured straps of mesh fabric, revealing her sky-high toned legs and black underwear.

Her glamorous dress was finished with a pair of elegant pearl straps and a square neckline.

Naomi accessorized with a pair of silver dangling earrings and a pair of sensible black satin heels.

She pulled out all the stops for the evening and opted for a full glam makeup look.

Elsewhere, film executives Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth arrived in France earlier this week for the world premiere of their new Mad Max film.

And earlier on Wednesday, Anya went braless in vest and hot pants as she left her hotel ahead of the premiere.

The Queen’s Gambit star graciously stopped to take selfies with waiting fans, keeping her eyes hidden under a pair of black sunglasses.

The film – which doesn’t hit theaters until May 23 – is a prequel to the acclaimed 2015 blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road.

Creator George Miller has returned to direct the film, which is an origin story for the title character, played by Charlize Theron in the previous film.

Anya takes over the role of the younger Furiosa in the upcoming film, set fifteen to twenty years before the events of Mad Max: Fury Road, while Chris plays the warlord leader Dementus.

The Thor star, 40, described the villainous character as “a very violent, insane, brutal individual born from the Wasteland.”

He added: ‘[Dementus] was born in a space where it is kill or be killed. He has learned to rule with an iron fist. He has a charisma and it’s very manipulative.’

While full reviews won’t appear until closer to release date, early reactions to Furiosa from a wide range of film critics are promising.

They praised George’s direction and were full of universal praise for Anya and Chris’ performances, with many noting that the film was a worthy addition to the franchise.

George described the prequel as “a saga” that will be told over a period of fifteen years, which is very different from Fury Road, which spanned three days in its time frame.

Filming for Furiosa took place in New South Wales, Australia, starting in June 2022 and ending in October.

Anya recently admitted that filming had been a very difficult experience for her and hinted at several behind-the-scenes challenges.

In an interview with New York Times this week she said: ‘I’ve never been as alone as I was making that film.

“I don’t want to get too deep into it, but everything I thought would be easy was hard. Like I knew I was going to need the two years it took for the movie to come out to deal with it.”

When pressed to explain this, Anya cryptically replied, “Talk to me in twenty years.”

She confessed that she wasn’t sure if she would be able to watch the film again, revealing that she started “sobbing” within “two minutes” of seeing an early cut.

Anya added, “I wanted to be changed. I wanted to be in a situation in extremis where I would have no choice but to grow. And I get it.

“I will never regret this experience, on so many levels, but it is a very special story to have.
