Former Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has shown his support for Tottenham ahead of their clash with Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta’s men ensured the Premier League title race would go down to the wire after beating Manchester United on Sunday.

The team from North London is one point ahead of City, who draw their match against Tottenham on Tuesday evening.

A win or a draw for Ange Postecoglou’s men will see Arsenal take control of their own destiny ahead of the final day.

And Ozil has vowed never to make fun of Tottenham again if they get a result that favors his former club.

The former playmaker posted on X: ‘Tonight for the first time ever: COME ON SPURSSS!! If Tottenham don’t lose this game, I will never make fun of them again… I promise.’

Ozil has focused on Tottenham since his playing days and even more recently.

In December he rubbed salt in the wounds of Tottenham fans after their 2-1 defeat to West Ham.

That defeat made Spurs become the first team to lose three home games in a row, despite being one goal ahead.

In response, Ozil wrote: ‘Who else should be able to break that record? Bottle Job FC is back.’

His jokes at Tottenham date back to 2019, when he joked about their long trophy drought.

Ozil made 426 top-flight appearances in his club career, scoring 33 times for Arsenal before retiring in İstanbul Başakşehir in March 2023.

The 35-year-old has made headlines several times this year after turning his attention to getting bigger.
